With Lilly coming in, maybe this was a ploy to actually raise the stock of Timmins.

LA needs some depth. Kampf, Jarnkrok and Timmins would be a pretty decent package instead of Timmy.

Why else would they give him a 3 year deal just before. I think they wanted to rid themselves of the Timmins pick up.
 
Is the Doughty talk legit?

Agree with everyone saying we should be looking to consolidate Jarnkrok, Kampf, Timmins/Liljegren/ Reaves into another top 4 defender or 3C. Or both somehow.
 
The D Rob Blake has traded away last 3 years is pretty hilarious. He's the worst GM in the NHL. Now he's stuck giving big contracts to Joel Edmondson.
 
The other thing about Lily vs Timmins is that McCabe is lined up for a big raise this offseason.

As it's configured I still think the pairings should be:

Rielly - Tanev
McCabe - Liljegren
OEL - Haakanpaa
(Timmins)
 
Is McCabe good enough to invest in long term? I was reading 5x5 or even 6x6.

I’ve never seen him as that big a difference maker here. Or is that just middle tier top 4 money now? Is he that?

Given the age of this D I'd argue no. And we want to trade 25 year-old LIlly.

Getting very close to a scenario where we go with Domi at C, McMann in the top 9, and Holmberg on the 4th line. I bet that's what we see if willy is good to go tomorrow.

If we stick with that, i bet we end up with a top-9 working too well by the end of the month to split up just for the sake of Calle Jarnkrok.


So then Brad's choice will be to save money on his 4th line (Kampf, Krok) or bottom pair (Lilly). I hope he ditches the older guys.

A cheap 4th line of Lorentz-Holmberg-Dewar is more than fine to me.
 
Definitely looks like Willy-Tavares-Robbie

But that WIlly-Domi-Robertson line last game was awesome, and JT-Willy hasn't worked the last couple of years.

I'm a little surprised that fans don't like him more tbh. He's played like a high-end tough-usage #2/#3 dman as a leaf. He's fast and physical. Doesn't have great hands but his speed and smarts let's him be productive offensively regardless. He plays easily the toughest minutes on the team, and has rarely played with legit proven top-4 partners even though his pair always gets the toughest matchups.

He's prone to highly visible fuck ups in the way that other guys the fanbase turned on were. The other McCabe & Gardiner specifically.
