OT: American Politics

Is that true though. Feels like he’s mainstreaming beyond MAGA with Musks etc jumping on board.

Musk has been MAGA and anything but “mainstream” for quite a long-time now.

The only thing that’s changed is that he’s burned all his bridges at this point and has nothing to lose by becoming an overt MAGA supporter.

And Thiel has always been a weirdo authoritarian and right-wing extremist.

@FlyGuy Legit question: Why do you support an Insurrectionist and an alleged Pedo. Aren't those things "UnAmerican"? Especially the Pedo stuff, Q is all about getting the Pedos (who are only Democrats) and to end Human/Sexual trafficking. Trump seems to be ok with that as he was good friends with Epstein.
Because I don’t believe any of that. They’ve all been largely exaggerated with hyperbole with disregard for pertinent facts (J6) and politicized to the nth degree. This pedo shit is just fake. If it were credible it would’ve been plastered everywhere within days of the Epstein arrest. They would not go to all this effort to trump up exaggerated charges on the man and yet withhold something so damning.

January 6 wasn't an insurrection, it was an attempt to save democracy!

and Jeffrey who?

I'd give myself 5/10

was the bad census data deliberate? i.e. do we have evidence of attempts to deliberately undermine the data collecting process, or something similar?

Pretty deliberate, yeah. Congress in 2014 passed a bill stating that the funding for the 2020 census couldn't cost more than the 2010 census in total dollars, not inflation adjusted. So you're getting ~20% less of everything across the board to do the job with right off the hop. They also didn't have the budget to do a bunch of programs to teach people how to fill out the forms properly, etc.

The generous explanation is that a GOP congress was obsessed with cutting costs everywhere they could to the point of stupidity. The likely more accurate explanation is that they wanted to come as close as possible to freezing America's current (at the time) demographic picture so they could continue program spending without considering the needs to growing urban communities, immigrant heavy jurisdictions, etc, etc.

Here's a Brookings piece from 3 years before the census ringing the alarm bell

A whole pile of additional work has been done since showing how bad it is. The main takeaway is that it overcounts white homeowners by about 3% in total, and undercounts basically everyone else with varying levels of inaccuracy from state to state.

I mean Jack Black just cancelled the tenacious D tour cause Kyle Gas was mean to Trump.

Or there was something in 2020 that was fairly significant that could’ve impacted the census lmao

Luckily people are realizing it’s pretty poor taste to wish a president had been killed. Maybe we’ve finally reached the tipping point of the normalization of wishing harm on the man.

The data supports his point. And I believe if you asked him to clarify "violent" I think he most likely meant emotionally and not physically, since that continues the tone of the rest of the message.
Abuse is abuse...
Psychological can have long reaching affects and due to the Stigma of mental health often festers

Barely ever sets foot in a church. Too busy paying off porn stars. He made a deal with evangelicals because they could help get him elected, and said nice things about him. In exchange he gives them what they want (Project 2025).

Meanwhile, Joe Biden goes to church all the time.

I will give you 1 guess as to which one you think is more religious.

Trump up there with the Christmas Christians. Probably less devout.

Yeah, covid could have impacted as well. It's been pretty thoroughly studied though

They go into detail which populations they had the biggest struggles with collecting data from in section 6 if you're interested.

The TLDR though is that it largely just made it harder to gather the data and took longer (so more chance of things like double counting someone who moved during the 3 months collection window, for example) and made them utilize secondary collection methods where face to face just wasn't possible.
