Fwiw, AOC's warning resonates with me. Biden's coalition of voters is Biden's, not necessarily the Democrats. African Americans, Unions. They have to be won over again, I don't think they're going to just jump over 1 to 1.

If it's Gavin the absolute smartest thing for him to do is focus on women for the first 2-3 weeks and make it a huge part of his speech at the convention. It's where MAGA is the weakest, and it's the largest demo with the most to lose under Trump 2.0

Suddenly, all the MAGAts are going to agree that insurrection is bad and that this was one. Their leaders will be shouting it from every pulpit nonstop. CNN will have many credulous guest commentators talking about how this is, in some ways, much worse than January 6th because it succeeded. Massive own goal, even on this one simple point, and the messaging will be uncontrollable

I get it’s trump that Gavin would hypnotically be against - but this is the dem party. They would tear each other apart for passing through Harris. Like she was a pawn for minorities and women to join in.

Dems suck at alignment. But the alt left have no reason to be mad about Biden and isreal anymore and can vote with the new nominee. That’s a win, I guess

I don't disagree, but this was the wrong way to do it. If the party felt this strongly about it, you primary the 81 yr old President. This is democrat's perpetually self defeating ineptitude at work, make no mistake about it. They might manage to not fuck this up on the strength of how bad a candidate Trump really is, but they have fucked this up massively.

Yup. I still maintain that Biden-Harris would've defeated Trump, but probably a narrow victory and nowhere near guaranteed. So this is a huge fucking risk, but if they were determined to do it, had to be done now.

I don't think you can have that Ticket. Can you have 2 people from the same state on a Presidential Ticket?

I think it will be Harris-Shapiro. Think of all the sweet spots of shared risk!

Really, you can't bypass Harris or there goes all your Black Women support. Just stick with her and she can run on her Administrations record, which is GREAT!
