OT: American Politics

Growth slow? It's in a recession. 2nd year in a row of contraction. First time they've had that in two decades.

Not it's not.

2024:
Q1: +0.3% EU/+0.3% Euro Area
Q2: +0.3% EU/+0.2% Euro Area
Q3: +0.3% EU/+0.4% Euro Area

A recession is two consecutive quarters of negative growth, that is exactly what I said it was. Slow growth. Not ideal obviously, but not a massive problem either.

This is mostly my empathy that is all angsty and shit.

Thats the primary difference between liberals and conservatives…..conservatives want policies that allow them to hold on to everything they’ve got, and pull the ladder up behind them. While Dems often come from a position of empathy and what can be done to help others.

Think of how many different policies we’ve discussed over the years in a thread like this, and how few of them are for something us, non lower class, white males, would directly benefit from.

Coming from that perspective, the pep talk I gave myself coming out of hearing Trump won…..was to focus on increasing the good I can do in my local community to help those less fortunate, and crank up the actionable things I can do that make a difference. Volunteering, fundraising for charities, helping seniors in the community that might not have much family, donate more to the food bank, continuing to donate blood & plasma as often as possible, (and doing more to encourage friends/family to donate as well) etc etc.…
