OT: American Politics

There's always a backlash against incumbents, especially recently as we've seen all around the world. The idea that Biden and the Dems are responsible for inflation is idiotic, but a lot of people believe this shit. It's already come back down in many places (led by the US) but the right-wing propaganda machine helped push this lie.

Biden did not do a great job on immigration and the border, this was also a major factor.

Then factor in the lack of education and ability to tell the difference between fact and fiction. Social media has contributed greatly to this in very negative ways (Thanks Elon).

Then you add in the misogyny factor, unfortunately. So many white and Latino men simply will not vote for a woman no matter what, even against an obviously horrible alternative.

This is the result.

Trump: 72.7 million
Kamala: 68.1 million
Other: 2.3 million

There's apparently about 15 million votes still left to be counted. Those will break Kamala's way. The final count will probably look something like:

Trump 79 million
Kamala 76 million
Other 3 million

maybe a bit closer than that given that the outstanding votes are mostly urban californian votes.

Last election it was

Biden 81.3 million
Trump 74.2 million
Other 2.4 million

so about as many people voted in this election as last one, but with population growth that's actually a decline.
 
the one silver lining here is that it's gonna be damn hard to blame libs for anything that goes wrong when the gop runs everything, and when they inhreited low unemployment, low inflation, and good economic growth.

but oh lord will the Foxes and Rogans try.

What this looks like, tbh, is normal republican vote growth through population, but a significant decline in dem vote growth to population growth.

More about Kamala losing votes than Trump winning them.

1. No more crosstabs
2. No more crowd sizes
3. No more anecdotes
4. No more delusional dem fanboys like Bouzy

Look at the polls. You don't have to take them seriously, but it's all we've got to look at.

heh, I *think* a number of Brits will still blame the newly elected government there if things don't get better quickly (while ignoring who f*cked it up for decade(s) prior to them). They don't have a monopoly on ignorance.
