OT: American Politics

My prediction is, you can't predict what he's going to do, how the other branches of government are going to react, and what is going to happen. You're just assuming he's going to act on everything that comes out of his mouth, Congress goes along with anything and everything he wants to do, and that the Supreme Court will violate the Constitution and let him break the law? No one man is bigger than the country, and nothing is going to change that, so...relax.
the supreme court has literally already ruled that the law does not apply to him when he is in office for any 'official acts'.

what branches of government will stop him? he already controlled Johnson in the previous congress, why would that change? same with Senate Republicans. plus, all the ones who would have opposed him have now almost all been purged (I think they all have, there might just be one or two still lingering. Romney is now gone)

the judiciary is already in his pocket, see scotus rulings for the past term.

and he is the executive.

I think they’ll move to restrict contraceptives in many states, go after same sex-marriage (as SCOTUS foreshadowed), abolish the Department of Education (hopefully States have a plan to cover the funding for special education), denaturalize folks who came in legally, among other things promised.
I agree with all this, and expect it will only be scratching the surface of what is planned.

Don't forget a mass firing of civil servants to replace them with political appointees. That's a key part of the plan.

And stacking the Courts with more lifetime appointees to enforce their laws.

That's for good reason. Because the Democrats candidate believes in Representative democracy and the GOP candidate does not. You don't make accommodations for fascists and anyone who, after witnessing the last go-round, is still voting for Trump is a god damned fascist. You dont talk to fascists. You punch them in the face. And you sure as shit don't let them off the hook with "Hey, I'm just here for the tax cuts".

If you dont know how or why Trump was different from any other random Republican candidate then you're either willfully ignorant or the dumbest sack of grilled chicken sandwiches that ever lived.

Donald Trump is a fascist, full stop. Anyone who votes for him is a fascist, full stop. You dont "engage" with these people, you hang them for treason.
Watch civil war on prime ..the ending of the fascist president seems realistic

they've all been purged. if there's anyone even the tiniest bit squishy, they won't survive a full frontal assault from the rest of maga and maga media.

and all of his people know that he will give them pardons for anything they do, as long as they stay loyal to him.

I'll be interested to see how the tarriffs affect Trumps' own companies.

the tarriff threats will largely be to ensure sweet deals for his personal business interests. as long as china and iran and russia line his pockets, there won't be any real tarriffs.

You know, up until a few years ago when that orange piece of shit showed up, I didn't give a single solitary fuck about politics.

I mean, I always voted whichever way I thought was best but didn't really pay much attention or care who won.

I really miss those days in a lot of ways.

There's consequences.
I planned to ask you this question today, but I am saddened by your attitude. Enjoy getting your jabs in, I guess.

But I would like a serious answer here.

We have seen that you believe things that are demonstrably untrue (in our view), and it just seems like no amount of discussion or evidence can make you change your mind on anything. Now I understand you agree with Trump on certain policies where we can simply disagree, like immigration and mass deportation, tariffs, tax cuts, etc.

This is a hypothetical question. But if he does start trying to dismantle civil liberties, takes steps to install himself as president for longer than 4 years, starts fucking with election laws etc, what are your thoughts on that?

- I don't mind, because he's on my team
- Or would you start to say wait a minute, this is unacceptable and I want the US to remain a democracy and will fight to keep it.

Do you understand on any level that he is a corrupt narcissist, now there are no guardrails, and that this is dangerous? Are you okay with that? Would you support him taking bribes, fucking over our allies, jailing journalists and political rivals, etc.? Assuming that some of these things do happen. I just want to understand if you are prepared to review his performance with any level of objectivity?

For what?
For being a woman? For being gay? For being an immigrant?

the number of white women voting for Trump is what surprised me. the white men is absolutely no surprise, but the women? with everything that has come out of Trump's mouth on the subject? I guess an awful lot of them must feel like the leopard is never gonna rip their face (or their daughter's face) off. I hope for their sakes they are right.

I don't think he'll care unless and until it affects him directly. Even then, he may not, cause he'll just blame the 'deep state'.
