OT: American Politics

I mostly agree with the guy who said they should have made The Rock run. Beefy muscular masculinity sells right now. Dems need to pick up on the trends. There's nothing maga likes more than hot dudes with big muscles. That's how you get them on the blue team.
you mean a weird bald 60 yr old who looked 70 didn't cut it?

No one likes corporate dems. They were previously tolerated due to lack of better options. Looks like even that is dead and gone. Those are people like your favourite Nonna btw.
This is why they should have gone all in on Bernie in 2016. He isn't a socialist, he's a REAL Democrat in the mould of FDR. Nowadays the Dems all want to be Bill Clinton, who was Republican-Lite. It's hardly a clear choice for the electorate. The only reason to vote for Hillary or Kamala is because the alternative was insane. But against a Republican who was actually tethered to reality, forget it.

The Dems need to be more progressive. Not zim/zer progressive but economically progressive. Pro labor progressive. Pro social security progressive.

But of course only Bernie ever had the balls to stand up to corporate oligarchs. The corporate Dems may as well be Republicans for all the good they do.

Dunno if I agree, this is a multi generational effort by the GOP that just happened to run into the Trump experience. The attempt to capture SCOTUS as not just a conservative court but very specifically a Federalist Society court was a 40 year run. The intent behind all of the work was clearly to use that power. Orban had to do most of the legwork himself to hollow our Hungarian democracy, Trump had Mitch and the boys working for him long before they knew they were doing it for Donnie.
This.

What we are seeing now is not the beginning of something, it's the end of a process that was at least 50 years in the making. Republican operatives play the long game. Roe v Wade was made law in 1973 and 5 minutes after the ink dried, Republicans were working on dismantling it.

Long before Trump was a thing, Republicans realized that their biggest enemies were well educated and politically engaged citizens. So again, they undertook a decades long effort to defund public education and get rid of civics in public schools and replace it with prayer.

When Richard Nixon tried to get away with criming, he was forced to resign or be impeached. Only a Presidential pardon from Gerald Ford saved him from dying in prison and that pardon ensured that Ford was not re-elected in 1976.

Now fast forward to today. Trump was convicted of 34 felonies and has more serious pending cases, cases for which the punishment can include being hanged for treason. But not only was he allowed to run, he won big and the country just shrugged because they no longer know why anything is important. They are not well educated, well informed or engaged. They feel no connection whatsoever to their fellow citizens. The US
Is not a country of 345 million citizens. It's just a geographic area with 345 million individuals all out for themselves.

None of this (or at least very little of it) happened by accident. The GOP has been running an operation for half a century in order to get America to this juncture. This is the endgame. The transformation of America from a democracy to a dictatorship.

Well yeah. Didn't we already know that his schtick isn't to lay out some sophisticated blueprint for improving the country, and instead would be a rambling mess of promises to make things great and such?

You combat that with explicit, clear policy statements that you offer to anyone who is willing to listen. You don't try to fool the public by answering questions with the same bullshit story of how you grew up with a single mother. It always came off as unprepared, ignorant, lazy, and offensive.
No, what you do in that case is turn the question around and back in to the media. Ask them why they're asking you policy questions but are giving Trump a free pass to ramble on like an imbecile. Ask them why they are incapable of asking Trump a tough question for which he has no prepared answer.

The one time in the entire campaign when Trump was forced to think on his feet we got "I have concepts of a plan". He never faced anything but softball questions after that.

Democrats are afraid to blame rich people for things that are rich people's fault, for long enough that it seems that they actually fucking care.

- Price of housing? Investors bought 26% of available single family homes last year, this distorts the market price. Not only are we going to help with a 25K grant to help homebuyers afford these larger downpayments, we're going to introduce legislation to raise capital gains taxes on residential property investors, etc, etc

Democrats just fail at being populists because you either have to mean it, or be really really good at going balls deep into lying about it. Trump commits to the role. With Democrats we get half way progressive/populist policy that tries to walk a line between managing lower to middle class angst while at the same time not pissing off their donors. You can't keep both sets of people happy and mean what you're saying to both.
Which is why you need to go full Bernie to win. But Democrat politicians are no different than their GOP counterparts. They are all addicted to corporate donations. And thanks to Citizens United, money is the only thing that's allowed to matter in politics so you have to take the corporate money.

I'd think that lengthy, prepared opportunities during solo interviews would be the time to really drill down into policies and let people know what you're about. Instead, she dodged every chance she got. If I didn't catch the substance on a random clip from a random rally, that's on her.
We just finished telling you that the people are morons with the attention spans of a goldfish. They ain't watching Meet the Press and they don't give a shit about policies. They're too fucking dumb to comprehend them and too disinterested to sit through an explanation of them.

In the end, Trump won because of sexusm and racism. Just like always. No deeper analysis is required.

Best example of my lifetime is 08 Obama. If anyone had a mandate to change the country it was him. Coming off of an 8 year Bush admin disaster. Epic financial collapse, entire system almost sank, 2 expensive foreign wars going on etc. Got obstructioned to death on every change he tried to make and a lot of the same people who voted for "change" needed a decade to pass before they stopped calling his biggest achievement Obamacare and hating it.
Obama fucked up by not ramming through a shit ton of progressive legislation in his first 2 years when he controlled the entire board. After the 2010 midterms he couldn't pass gas without the Republicans voting it down. But instead of ramming, he wasted time trying to reach across the aisle, a thing that Dems feel obliged to do but that Republicans never do.

If theres ever another free election in America and the Dems manage to get a majority in both houses, they need to ram while the ramming is good. Ststehood for DC and PR, and either term limits or expansion of the Supreme Court. Just doing those things would ensure that the Dems never lose another election ever again.

Yeah, it's the classic case where you expect her to have to defend her policies and elaborate on her entire housing plan, yet keep it snappy enough to fit into a 15 second sounding, while nobody ever had to follow up with Trump on how and why anything of his would actually do anything.

Trump won because he spoke the language of”moron” to the masses of “morons”. And to be clear, by moron I am referring to political morons. People who have no idea how the government functions.

If the Dems had a clue how to simplify messaging they would have a better result

“Eggs were cheaper under Trump”

The response should been, “ eggs were cheaper under Obama. Why did Trump raise them?”

“The economy is bad”. The response should be “name one country on earth with a better economy?”

“The border is open”. The response should be “Ask Trump why he killed the bill to fix it?”

Hint: speak moron to morons.

Smart Americans voted for Harris already and know this stuff so you don’t have to speak moron to them.

That I could get behind. Would be batshit insane if Trump actually can clear the swamp.
Unconfirmed but I’ve seen reports of pharma execs meeting with each other in fear, and that Fauci and gates were included in those as well. Rest in hell fuckos

I don't think it'll help it'll just give the lobbyists more power. Not saying the current way is good now.. But as with many things it's not so simple..
2 Senate terms 4 as a Rep maybe? but we really need to work on the power of the Lobbyists.. for the most part they are the ones that write the laws.. :(
