Yeah, this decision was made before that was a consideration but that has definitely crossed my mind since. connecting through the US has always sucked, so its not a loss of anything but a few bucks to just fly over the entire place

In my almost 69 years I have never once set foot on US soil. Never had reason to or any want to, just never appealed to me in any way.

There is absolutely no way in hell I would now.

I know there are good Americans, plenty of them, but holy fuck.

I simply can't imagine how the people being affected by these fucking lunatics feel.

I don’t even know when I last visited the states. It was definitely pre-9/11 though, so at least 25 years now.

Having a hard time imagining any scenario that’ll snap that streak before I die, at this point. Even if a miracle happens and the country comes around to overwhelmingly rejecting Trumpism specifically and Christofascism generally, I’ll never forgive them for what they’ve put the world through over the past 10 years, or what they’re about to put us through.

My parents just got back from a month in Florida (booked last summer) and the first thing my dad asked for when he got home was a hook up for a short term rental in Mexico for next year, he's not interested in going back. I've been semi regularly over the years, NYC, Vegas, Chicago, LA, San Fran, Miami, etc but haven't been since covid and yeah, don't intend to in the future. I might take one last road trip through when I make the move to Mexico in Nov-Dec 2026, not sure if it's worth shipping down less than a car load of stuff.
