OT: American Politics

Guess the guy doesn't know what happens to fetuses with dead mothers. And what about all those eggs? The doc refusing treatment is basically committing genocide.

Seeing that a vasectomy is in fact birth control, wouldn't every American male that ever got a vasectomy be equally guilty of murder?

I'd guess that the distinction they'd draw is that the moment when an egg is fertilized is when almighty god waves his magic wand an imbues that clump of cells with an immortal soul that must be protected at all costs (including the life of the incubato---I mean, mother).

Which would leave the freedoms of men completely and conveniently out of their crosshairs.

That is their argument for abortion. However, if we assume that the next rung on the suppression ladder is birth control, any means of birth control would be in play.

I would imagine leafgm is right and they (very conveniently) just go after birth control methods with the mechanism that affect the egg after fertilization. That’s a lot of them so… they achieve the desired affect I guess.

The Supreme court has just lit a firestorm. As any married man will tell you, angry women never forget. And they are rightfully angry.

“I could do this life saving procedure - without which, you will certainly die. But instead I must let you die and, in all likelihood, your fetus.”

This would be true if the overwhelming majority of people who support abortion being banned were actually doing it purely out of an honestly held belief in the sanctity of human life from the moment of conception.

But since this is mostly just about creating a wedge issue that can motivate the base and "putting women back in their place", going after the freedoms of men will stay off the table since that would run counter to those two goals.

I guess women in Louisiana with ectopic pregnancies just have to die or… go to jail for life.

Make sure you’re not a woman of child bearing age traveling in Louisiana too.

If I was running a liberal state, I would be offering grants/assistance to anyone from these red states who wanted to move. Texas has been poaching companies from other states for decades (way easier than doing the hard work of attracting international investment like NY and Cali put their efforts into), why not poach the educated young from these shithole states?

Pay moving expenses, provide rent assistance for 12/24 months, etc.
