OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

When you hear about the restrictions in Italy, you realize we're really just prolonging all of this. Half measures aren't enough.

All the Italian people talking about how everyone was out and about for walks too until they enforced it.

This is a sign for the rest of us that we are going to need a longer lockdown than anticipated and authorities have to step in and keep people home

i think this is just going to be life

we get a handle on it - then boom back into lockdown - rinse and repeat
should be area specific though

Italy threatens flame throwers

My uncle died this morning in Montreal. 74. Had lung cancer but wasn’t close to death. Family doesn’t know yet if COVID 19 accelerated the issue. I’m beyond sick of this shit. My mom is trying to book a flight to Montreal and I’m shutting her down on that.

Something else I shouldn’t worry about eh?

:(

I’m trying to set up remote access to the funeral for the family. Looking for a service or someone that can accommodate in Montreal. Anyone know of a company or anything of that sort up there?

Assuming quebec is like Alberta. Funerals are canceled. Most funeral homes have a streaming option though.

Peter Attia podcast with Sam Harris.

  • How to calm our minds and manage our emotions during this craziness [38:00];
  • Talking to kids about this situation without burdening them with undue stress [50:15];
  • Insights from meditation practice—Recognize and unhook yourself from a heightened emotional state [52:00];
  • How to make the most of a situation where you let your emotions get the best of you [59:15];

It was already unclear how retail would survive, but office buildings are really going to have to accelerate plans to drops rents if they want to keep tenants.

All I need is a vegetable stand, a butcher, a baker and Amazon. Hell, after Mindz posts his bread-making videos here, I won't even need a baker.

Now that working remotely has leapfrogged about a decade, the density problem will see a bunch of folks opting to leave pricey Toronto for a home in a mid sized Ontario town.

Between that and the death of Airbnb "super hosts" in Toronto, I don't think people will be spending 700K+ on a shoebox-sized condo because it's walking distance to the train for much longer.

Easiest thing you'll ever make. The perfect beginners guide to a bread better than anything you'll find at most bakeries. You're welcome.

Once you see how easy it is, you can graduate to the next level. Warning: It's addicting.

I predict that within 5 years, a bunch of current office space will be repurposed as mixed use buildings.
