OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

This is why my presto hunch says the hospitalization rate or hospitalization risk reduction is not telling the whole story on severity

Caveat: older ages are just now getting crushed in the UK. So that will take time to show up in ICU admissions. They will rise again. But there's a real thing going on imo.

I mean this just wouldn't happen under Delta. Completely flat, if not dropping a bit. If intrinsic severity when using the hospitlizations metric is only 20-30% less under omicron vs delta, I think ICU/deaths could be a larger reduction in the end.

You'd think it'd be easier to manage those symptoms clinically than a variant that goes hard after the lungs.

Maybe I missed it but how good is the UK in terms of vaccine compliance?

Yeah... I still think it'll be a nightmare here because of the sheer number of hospitalizations coming. They're already surging like crazy and cases are starting to leak into the older age groups. Our system is going to break. And that may lead to more deaths in the end because people may not get proper care.

Hoping health Canada approves the Pfizer antiviral pill asap. Not sure how much supply we'd get right away but we'll need the extra help.
