Matt Smith does not a convincing knight/warlord/whatever make. but ya still gonna watch.

Nothing to get fooled with if you go in with lowered expectations.

GOT legitimately was some of the greatest tv ever for 6 years. It was reasonable to expect they'd finish great. And if GRMM did his job, they probably would've.

HOD can't convince me it'll do any better. But if it does, I'm up for being pleasantly surprised. And one hour for 10 weeks every 1.5 years is a minimal investment of time.

If I need to go into it all with lowered expectations, I would rather just spend my time doing something else. Short of the wife murdering me, I intend on being alive when the show raps up in however many years. Binge material for my future self if they don't fuck it up. It's not like I don't know how it ends, it will be like not watching Titanic again (which I still haven't seen).

My initial impressions in episode one was that the King was an unlikeable pussy, but then he sort of got better suddenly when he took the stand against his council, and then flipped when hearing the news the next day. And Daemon, I swear I thought his face was mostly prosthetics because he looks so fucking weird, but I guess that's really just him.

Not explicitly but George always gave them kind of a children of the corn feel. Silver haired paleskin fireproof outsiders who mostly inbreed and then every couple of generations go nutso and burn the world down.
