OT: Movies/TV Shows

Probably top 3 Danny Glover movie too

Also an amazing Scott Glenn performance, ditto the person who plays his brother that would be a cool surprise so I won’t mention his name….

…but also the two main sheriffs, crush it as well. Whole boatload of great performances, slick dialogue, and great action set pieces.

Even tho it’s made for a general mainstream audience, the more I’ve thought about Westerns the last month or so, and the more I’ve thought about Silverado, the more it’s gone up in my rankings.

Will never been Unforgiven or High Noon…..but for pure entertainment, it’s about as fun as they come.

Danny Glover kinda sucks. He’s fine in Lethal Weapon because he’s supposed to kinda suck, but I can’t say I’m a fan of his “acting” in any other movie. Maybe Silverado changes my mind.

I think I have Hollywood suite and found my next rewatch

Its both the most satisfying ‘saved in the nick of time, by a returning character’ moment….followed by such a brilliant line.

no surprise that the man who wrote “don’t tell me the odds” and “I know” as a reply to I love you, for Han Solo, also wrote that Danny Glover line.

The problem with these old movies though is where do you find them? Do you actually have to rent them on iTunes when there’s one you want to watch or do you get lucky and they’re on one of the main streamers.
I saw a bunch of them when they were on TV. I was sort of your typical "latchkey kid" (no older siblings, so the old 'black & white' TV was often my babysitter (both parents worked & my grandparents passed away before I turned 10):

Kevin Kline - great actor, wasted in mostly mediocre movies. too bad.

was thinking the same thing when I looked up his filmography…it’s crazy how many Tom Hanks type roles he could have crushed in, but never really got the chance to.

I feel like Kline got typecast in a bunch of shitty 90's rom coms that Hanks probably said no to, and got typecast in those quirky shit movies. Shame.

…his character (Tyree) is the spiritual successor to Michael Biehn’s Johnny Ringo in Tombstone.
I'm surprised Kurt Russell didn't direct more movies given that he essentially directed Tombstone. Guess he didn't care for it much how like Henry Fonda wasn't a producer for any films after 12 Angry Men (to my knowledge).

Agreed.

….but with how goddamn likeable Kline can be, I’m wrestling with the possibility he could have maybe out Hanks’d Hanks in many of those roles.

some only work with Hanks….’Private Ryan’ ‘Big’ ‘Gump’…..but there is prob be a big chunk of Hanks hits, Kline might have been better in.
