OT: Movies/TV Shows

But what if the Late Show persona is actually the character and the Colbert Report personality was the real him??

I'm not acting like anything. You're saying that he doesn't have the same energy as a character he played. I truly believe that if his character was name Joseph Colbair, nobody would have expected him to be anything like that on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

I thought that character was an all time great and I'd have loved that show to continue rather than him going to the Late Show with his "real" personality. That said, the show has gotten a lot better... But it will never be as entertaining as the character he used to play.

I said at the beginning I was disappointed when he took the Late Show. I didn't have any expectation that he would be as funny or have the same energy. I expected it to be exactly what it is. Just an OK late night show. Because that's all the format allows. And guys who take late night shows aren't looking to take big risks in the name of comedy.

Anyway the difference here is you seem to think Colbert's just OK but landed a great character with Colbert Report. And I think he's capable of being hilarious in gigs that don't require him to sit behind a desk and a coffee mug interviewing celebrities with movies/music to push.

I personally expected him to be like Conan and be totally silly and crafty at Late Night, breathe some life into that shit. But he looks like a sad puppy on a leash.

They're such boring characters, that's the problem. Their powers are very meh - stretchy stretchy, invisibility, orange rock, and fire. Three of the four are family members. I mean, it's sorta irretrievably stuck in the 60's. The story has to be so incredibly amazing to overcome the boredom, and it never is, not even in the comics where the sky's the limit and you have no technical obstacles. And they've just never been able to do it, but they have enough readership (I'm guessing 95% are older) to barely keep it alive. Not too long ago, I think they cancelled the comic and just let the characters lay dormant for a long while. That would be unheard of with Spidey, X-Men or other properties.

As a kid, I tried to get into it (Human Torch is cool at least), but it had nothing to keep my attention.

I love Pedro Pascal, but I don't think they're gonna crack the code of producing a non-shit FF movie suddenly.

Take it from a baby cartoon shit lover, the FF franchise is kinda garbage even in the comic books.
FF = Best Superhero comic ever, with the one possible exception being Spiderman

Later animated version of the FF didn't include the Human Torch:

(it wasn't because of the urban legend being that the producers felt kids watching the cartoon would set themselves on fire imitating Johnny Storm but rather bacause of rights issues so he was replaced with a stupid robot)

Herbie the Robot is without question the most interesting character of those four.

They don’t usually cancel and sideline a series for a couple of years when it’s actually good.

I mean, the Spidey series have been shit for years, but it still sells because the character is compelling.

Sony owned spiderman through all the shitty ones. Marvel bought it and made it good finally.

Fox owned fantastic four and xmen through all the shitty ones. Marvel bought them and will probably make them good now.
