OT: Movies/TV Shows

I'm skeptical any of you have watched the Last Boy Scout in the last 20yrs.

But it does have a killer opening scene.

Yeah, I remember it opening amazing….but letting me down a bit overall given the cast/poster. I went in with pretty high expectations though.

Never made my rewatchables list, but I’d give it another go.

It’s not Halle, but a scorching hot Alex Datcher….who does bring to mind 90’s era Berry for sure.

Her and Hurley, play a couple of the better female characters for this era of action film too….if memory serves I felt like they both got a solid amount of screen time/dialogue.
Im upset at myself for thinking twas Halle, and yes both did, Hurley could be argued as the 2nd baddie

This is pretty solid 2 episodes in…..real well shot, gives it a feel of realism you don’t normally get with your garden variety police procedural.

Female lead is particularly great, and can carry the show if the material holds up.

Dick Wolf produced, I think written by his son possibly….

Could end up being same ol same ol, but so far it has an air of HBO level quality to it.

Has a bit of a “End of Watch” visual style to it….also brings to mind Nicolas Winding Refn’s stylized camerawork at times too.

Was just flipping through prime and never saw this. Weird. I'll take a lot after this UFOs are among us show

In what way? I found that movie to be interesting, but poorly written as bullshit cop propaganda.

Mainly just its stylized cinematography, also reminiscent of the raid scene in True Detective at times….its probably pro-cop in so far as any show that can empathize with them might be, but it also shows the grimier/dark elements of the profession.

I’m 5 episodes in now, and really love it….there’s some camera work in the series that’s really impressed me.

I think it maybe falls short of its full potential (it’s a half hour show) and if it went a little deeper, contrasted both sides like The Wire did, it could have been incredible…..but it’s a very solid 7.8/10 I’d say, with potential for more in future seasons.

Since it’s only 8 eps, it’s basically a 4 hour movie….but for non-prestige television it’s real good.

Jack Burton or others may recognize the lead actress from other projects, but this is as my first time seeing her, and I think she kinda kills it.

It just came out on January 9th, so I kinda assumed it was their big debut for the week or whatever, had the top real estate on the Prime home page for me, so I’m surprised it wasn’t force fed to you while scrolling.

That said, as I typed I realized I often put on Blue Bloods for my mother as it’s one of her favourite shows, so obviously my algorithm would have particularly highlighted it for me.

I think it’s worth anyone’s 30 mins to give the pilot a shot to see if they like it…..if that doesn’t sell someone id recommend passing, but if you like it the series has kept my interest as it’s gone on. Girlfriend loves it too.

Watched "Here" with Tom Hanks and Robin Wright last night. Really cool concept for a movie. They pulled it off quite well... But it wasn't a home run. Worth a watch imo. 7ish/10

Finally got to see Nosferatu and my boy Eggers did not dissappoint. He's a legit master.

Depp Jr. is a pretty great actor too.

I loved that movie in the theatres as a kid and loved it. I then bought it on vhs as part of the columbia house 11 movies for 1 cent thing. :)
Columbia house office/factory was across the street near Nielson and Finch, so I was able to cancel in person after getting my movies and CDs.

Air Supply Greatest Hits, was one of the CDs I specifically remember wanting and getting.

The Last Boy Scout though is totally not rewatchable. It was an early Jerry Bruckheimer and the other guy production.
