I know, but my family is here and I have a house in the burbs. I just don't get why this crap is still happening. I am not miserable, I just get angry. I have a 1 year old boy, I'm the happiest I've ever been in my life now that I have a child, I just don't know if he will want to grow up with this negativity here in Quebec.

Mtl today is a very different place than it was 30-yrs ago when I was going to elementary, and that was much different than the Mtl of the 1950's etc..

Ebb & flow of life, as the baby boom PQ aficionados start to kick the bucket over the next 10-20 yrs, the entire spectre will also change accordingly....

To what? I've got no clue, but it will change.

Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it. I left Quebec close to two decades ago. Best move I ever made. In a province where language trumps all else, as an anglophone, I was always at a disadvantage for work and career path.

Sure, there is a lot I miss about Quebec, especially the damn fine restaurants and the Habs, but leaving made the most sense and still does for me. My parents are still there, although pretty much the rest of my family has either passed away or moved away (ie Toronto). Sometimes we have to do what makes the most sense for our own families. I did. And honestly have not thought about Quebec's petty language wars in years. Know what, it will still be going on long after I'm gone.
