OT: Politics & News... Have at it.

Urban centers in Canada, which has over 60% of the population are Liberal at heart, they need to be pushed away to vote Tories....

Most of the cities went Liberal. Greater Vancouver is basically all Liberal except for maybe 1/2 dozen seats and those were for the most part close. Toronto is Liberal, Montreal, Winnipeg, Ottawa. When Calgary elects two Liberals, you know it will be tough for the boys in blue in the future.

As Canada becomes less "white" the Liberals will be the defacto party of choice.
Unless of course the liberals push people away with scandal again

Call me a cynic... but i think the scandal part of this cycle is inevitable for any party who is in power too long

Because U.S. corporate taxes are so ridiculously high (much higher than Canada's).

I know. I can't believe they can't figure it out. Do a one-time tax holiday at a low rate (10%) and then establish an non-ridiculous rate going forward.

I'm enjoying watching Cork's head explode. His claim that some younger Liberal asked him to nail her last night is a good story.

It is mind-boggling. It's like some here believe that corporations, even those (like tech. companies) run by "liberals" will just voluntarily pay taxes at the highest possible rate they can. Really?

This is where ingenuity needs to kick in, create some type of credit system whereby the "tax $" paid on offshore Corp $, will directly go towards debt in exchange for tax credits/benefits for the corp.

Try to create a system whereby the corp actually wants to pay more taxes....

Hillary's opened up a big lead over Uncle Bernie. I guess using Denmark and Norway as your ideal model for the U.S. was not a good idea, LOL.

I like Bernie but that's a really really dumb strategy. He doesn't seem to have much of a team of strategists working for him.

Sanders is there to put forth his ideas. He knows he won't win but the fact people are discussing his ideas is good for the USA. Down there, people never seem to want to talk about there possibly being another way to do things. Everyone who takes vacation, doesn't want to work three jobs or 70 hours a week is just considered lazy. He is saying, other countries are happy, more sound economically, have single payer health care and maybe we should not say, well we do it our way and stick it.

If the rest of the western world has single payer health care, and only the USA does not, how can the rest of the world be out of step?

Right?

Definitely need to reduce that corporate tax rate.

I think Sanders could have had a shot if he was smarter about managing his socialist ideology. Clinton isn't a really strong candidate, she could be taken over but Sanders is painting himself as way too risky of a proposition for the Democrats.

Not every country in the world has a single payer healthcare model.

Also the Great US doesn't to hear that it should model itself against Norway and Denmark, that's a sure way to lose voters. Talk about ideas but don't talk about modeling yourself to other countries. The US ego is too big to handle that.

the western world does iirc.

You are right re Denmark, you have to tell Americans they are the best, the rest of the world is wrong etc if you want to be elected

yes & no.

Yes - a third of the US workforce does need that, with a 350M population, but that was possible post-WWII ONLY because the U.S. had zero international competition, Europe was decimated to rubble, and Asia was pre-historic in industrial development.

Americans are too stupid to understand they are intrinsically fat, stupid, uneducated & lazy. They've lived high on the hog thanks to dreaded SOCIALISM: GI bill allowing university education post-WWII, social security, Medicare, unemployment insurance, and most importantly the only real manufacturers of ALL goods & services from 1945-1980 were US based. What u see with globalization today is the reality of America, 1945-1980 was an aberration....

With that opinion, you should consider moving.

Sure, i figure the next 18-24 months will be great... lower taxes, more services, more payments to families... its gonna be sunshine and rainbows.

Once the interest payments in our budgets start ballooning due to $10 billion per year being added to the national debt... its gonna 10 plus years of pain (no matter who is in power) as the move to cut the deficit and then start paying down some of that debt.

Yep....people couldn't see past Trudeau's smile
