OT: The M-Fing Food Thread

They’re really bad for you. Just saying.

I like apples in smoothies....then all the berries (black, blue, rasp) and Ontario peaches in August.

Vegetables, I like most of 'em....except eggplant. I don't like mush as a texture.

All I’m saying to those juicers that like the sweet fruit, be careful, it catches up to you as you age. No bueno.

First kiwi, and now eggplant?? No no no.

Yeah i gotta agree with LoF on that one. What kinda self-respecting Italian does not like eggplant?

for sure....blackberries though, only have seven grams of sugar per cup

never am I going to sweat about naturally occurring sugars in fruits.

now, you are also unlikely to ever convince me that it is worth purchasing tropical fruits in Canadian grocery stores. with rare exceptions, fresh fruit or GTFO.

Save that post and revisit in 20 years. I used to think similarly.
I do recall reading that sugars in fruit juice are digested differently by your body than sugars in fresh fruit. And I think the presence/absence of the natural fibres that get filtered out in juice-making were the difference.

I'm not gung ho on fruit juices. But since August I've been eating at least one peach and nectarine with my breakfast daily. In addition to lots of plums and raspberries. All from the Annapolis Valley.

My produce purchasing is almost entirely seasonal at this point. Barely buy any produce from grocery stores.

Firstly, you can prepare eggplant without the mushiness. I’ll send you a recipe if you like @CH1, it’ll go great with Tzatziki too.
