OT: The News Thread

His lawyer was grandstanding. Almost no chance his other conviction was getting overturned.

Yup. The judge sided with the defense a lot in the conviction case. Nothing to work with.
Can't believe this guy threw away everything. And he commits a murder down the street from his house. WTF.

Being a "hood" was his choice, though. He apparently had a pretty comfortable middle-class upbringing.

His mother was a bookie who had declared bankruptcy twice and her second husband (his father died when he was a teen) was an ex convict who had spent time up state for various acts of violence.... The entire crew he ran with after his father's death would be considered hood by just about anyone's classification. Whether it was his choice or not, he definitely let himself get caught up in that bullshit and by all accounts, stayed in it after he made it in the NFL. I'm not defending his actions, just countering the argument that he was some sort of entitlement case. This wasn't "affluenza", this was hood level stupidity.

Umm don't hood guys generally get arrested and put away for exactly what this guy failed to cover up?

When you look at the details of the cases, it's pretty clear that whether he came up in it or not, he ran with people that we would consider as having the "hood" mentality and he pretty clearly self identified with it as well.

And yeah...some of the stupidest murderers or all time are hood dudes.
