OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

Demar would only make the hall for what he's done since leaving the Raps.

Last 5 years as a Raptor
4 all star selections
2 all nba selections

6 years since leaving
2 all star selections
1 all nba selection

So, no. That ain't it either

eh "nowhere near the offensive responsibility" isn't a 4% difference in USG. Nurse loved running his offence through Marc at the top. Pascals offensive responsibility was taking advantage of not being double teamed, which don't get me wrong is entirely essential on a contender (Klay Thompson has made a HOF career of being the guy who never sees a double, ever). But being the #2 guy is a role that a lot of good scorers can fill.

Kawhi: 39.1mpg, 30.5pts (32.2usg%, 61.9ts%), 3.9ast/3.1to, 9.1rb, 1.7st, 0.7bk, 5.0ws, .254ws/48, 10.1bpm, 2.9vorp

Siakam: 37.1mpg, 19.0pts (23.2usg%, 54.0ts%), 2.8ast/1.4to, 7.1rb, 1.0st, 0.7bk, 2.4ws, 2.6bpm, 1.0vorp
Lowry: 37.5mpg, 15.0pts, (18.5usg%, 57.7ts%), 6.6ast/2.3to, 4.9rb, 1.3st, 0.3bk, 2.8ws, 2.3bpm, 1.0vorp

a clearcut big 3 full-time starters, with the #2/3 being very close.

Gasol: 30.6mpg, 9.4pts (13.7usg%, 56.4ts%), 3.0ast/0.9to, 6.4rb, 0.9st, 1.1bk, 2.2ws, 3.4bpm, 1.0vorp

Green: 28.5mpg, 6.9pts (12.7usg%, 50.3ts%), 1.1ast/1.1to, 3.6rb, 1.3st, 0.5bk, 0.7ws, -0.7bpm, 0.2vorp
VanV: 24.7mpg, 8.0pts (15.4usg%, 53.4ts%), 2.6ast/0.9to, 1.7rb, 0.8st, 0.3bk, 1.0ws, 0.1bpm, 0.3vorp
Ibaka: 20.8mpg, 8.4pts (21.5usg%, 53.2ts%), 0.9ast/1.0to, 6.0rb, 0.5st, 1.0bk, 1.2ws, -0.4bpm, 0.2vorp

a clearcut 4 part-time role guys, with Gasol clearly being the best of them, but still not near as big a piece as the top 3.

So your argument, just so we're clear is that a #2 scoring option who put up a 54% TS (92nd in the playoffs....somewhat ironically 1.7% behind Demar) was the 2nd most important player to winning on a team had the 7th best offence in the playoffs, but the best defence in the playoffs?

Pascal True Shooting % (and team rank) by round:

1st: 59.9% (3)
2nd: 53.2% (4)
ECF: 46.8% (7)
Finals: 56% (5)

I mean, miss me with this bullshit.

He played fine overall, but he was what he was. A sheltered 2nd option who benefitted heavily from Kawhi's gravity eliminating double teams from his life and someone has to shoot the shots. But he gave us a fine, but inefficient playoff run as a 2nd option.

Here's the list of every 2nd offensive option over the last bagload of years who shot 15+ shots, USG of over 20%, but with a TS% under 55%

Klay on 1 leg
Pascal

That's the list, and I went back about 20 years. So yeah, miss me with everything about this.

Me waiting for Zeke's pending "Here's why Tony Allen was ackshually better than Demar Derozan" post.

""This is a great opportunity for the organization — this is an organization that’s never had somebody in this position before — so let’s have an appreciation, a celebration," Carter said. "Let’s come together for a change. We have a great opportunity. This is something that’s never happened before. So let’s celebrate it moreso than turn our nose up at it."

Has Vince Carter actually ever apologized? Shared any blame? Anything? Can't find anything to that effect. If you have please share.
