OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

10 Moves that need to happen form Jim Bowden

2. Toronto Blue Jays | Move: Trade for RHP Jeff Samardzija

Like the Angels, the Blue Jays need another quality starter in between R.A. Dickey and Mark Buehrle. They’d like Brandon Morrow to be healthy or Aaron Sanchez to develop quickly or Drew Hutchinson or Kyle Drabek to return from injuries and perform to their potential. But there's an element of wishful thinking in each case.

The Cubs want Sanchez in an Samardzija deal, but they won’t get him. However, a package of Marcus Stroman, Daniel Norris and Anthony Gose probably gets it done. The Cubs need to keep building with prospects, and if they haven’t been able to sign Samardzija to an extension by now they should consider dealing him while the return is still high.

Samardzija shouldn't command Stroman, either.

Norris + Gose + another decent prospect like Stilson/Tirado/Burns/etc/

I like that bench way better than last year's bench.

As good or better offensively, much better defensively, and way, way cheaper.

not included on that list of SP are Marcus Stroman, top pitching prospect, and Dustin McGowan, who's apparently definitely coming to camp as an SP.

and oh yeah - Romero, Drabek, and Jenkins too, but they don't count.

I dont hate allotting one spot for the best of Romero, Hutch, Drabek, Stroman, Happ, Redmond, Rogers, etc....but i don't want to allot 2, especially with Morrow being such a health risk, if he goes down then you are looking at 3 of these names....which is gross

We need another starter.

I've lost my expertise of the sport in years as my devotion to the Jays has dwindled.

What i've read, i would like this Tanaka guy. BUt if not, we need a guy we can count on.

Hopefully we stay healthy.

imo i think dickey will be good this year

weird track record for Moises for sure. he sucked at the lower levels, but has seemed to improve steadily.

Age 17 (RK-): 281pa, .721ops
Age 18 (RK): 154pa, .605ops - missed most of the year to injury
Age 19 (A): 489pa, .661ops

pretty shitty.

Age 20 (A+): 495pa, .759ops
Age 20 (AA): 36pa, .832ops

Pretty good year finally, but seriously injured again at the end.

Age 21 (RK): 38pa, .754ops
Age 21 (A+): 40pa, .445ops

lost year rehabbing.

Age 22 (AA): 551pa, .778ops
Age 23 (AAA): 422pa, .832ops (Las Vegas)
Age 23 (MLB): 157pa, .648ops
Age 24 (AAA): 412pa, .731ops (Buffalo)
Age 24 (MLB): 122pa, .827ops

Last 3 years:

MILB: 1394pa, .276/.339/.443/.782
MLB: 279pa, .252/.315/.409/.725

I'm not too high on him but he's got a chance to be a decent bat.
