OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

I move Kirk probably - Moreno has the versatility around the field that Kirk does not. Ideally we get Ohtani somehow (who we would need to DH)

It's a tough call. You have to think that Moreno is the one with the most trade value. And it's no guarantee that he ends up the best player of the bunch. Though obviously there's a solid chance he does.

Yeah it really depends on what you can get for them. If someone is willing to pay a premium because Moreno has 6 years of control and they think he’s about to be an all-star C then you probably move Moreno.

I think Jansen is likely to be undervalued in the market (injuries, entering arb years) and likely the same for Kirk (fat, complete loss of power in 2nd half). So that could make them both difficult to move for value.

Moreno has the future so you aren't trading with a team looking to win now if that's who they want.

I love Kirk but I hate....I mean, I fucking hate having guys like that on the bases.

...but power to him. I am amazed that anybody makes it to the big league level and does it without being able to run efficiently in a game that requires so much running.

As nice as it would be to sell high on Kirk, hard to deal him after the year he had. I think you deal Moreno, hope that he's a typical prospect that ends up not reaching potential, and get someone who really helps for now on the team.

We're not exactly swimming in DH worthy sticks, I don't think it would be that much of a struggle to get all 3 a decent amount of AB's next year.

Jansen being arby eligible this year and free agent eligible in 2 years...and Kirk being a human fire hydrant, makes trading a naturally athletic, plus plus defensive catcher like Moreno risky risky imo.

If the front office is going balls out and they're trading Moreno for an all star under some years of control, sure whatever. But if they're doing that whole thing where they sign a guy or two but still manage to sit 10th in payroll and leave gaping holes on the roster, nah, hang on to Moreno.

That’s my preference. Don’t trade any of them. Kirk only caught 72 games last year. Doesn’t look like the body can handle any more. Jansen can probably be counted on for a couple of lengthy DL stints. If they move one of the three, you’re probably looking at 300 PA from someone like Zack Collins.

the problem is they are philosophically opposed to having a strict DH.

so even when a great one falls into their laps I'm sure they'll want to ditch him to "clear space" for resting the other hitters.

I mean, given the players on the roster, I don't think it's a bad thing to have the flexibility. Vlad even as a gold glove 1b still needs like 2 days at DH a week. Springer also needs plenty of rest time, more if he's recovering from injury. And if the team had a legit SS option, I'm sure it wouldn't hurt Bo to rest too. Never mind Teo or Gurriel.

Jansen/Kirk as C and half a DH is legit good. Yeah, would be great to see what Moreno develops into, but if he can be the headline in a deal that brings you back even a Bryan Reynolds caliber of talent, the team is a lot better that way. Sure, if you can deal Kirk and get like McCullers or someone who can be another big SP, do it. But if not, then it's either use Moreno to anchor a big return, or deal Jansen for a random bullpen arm.

Jansen is pretty good. Would be a shame to move him and then end up with Moreno not developing and Kirk eating himself out of the league.

Tough decision. Move Kirk? He’s prob the best bat.

how good is Moreno?

I’m not against trading Teoscar. Depends who they got.

There were rumours yesterday about trading him for Chris Flexen, also only one year from FA. Not sure about that trade, if that’s what this is.
