OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

The play should be to get Ohtani and go all in; too risky though

I think it's more that the amount that it would take to convince them to deal him would end up crippling. Like, they could make a case for asking for Kirk+Manoah, which would obviously be ridiculous for us to give up for one year of someone.

I do hope that management has a plan. They've been ready to add some big players the last few years in Ryu and Springer, trading for Chapman+Berrios, etc... But we definitely have to keep that up. I desperately hope that they can be willing to spend to the tax threshold - if they are, there should be 30M in the budget, maybe even more depending on what insurance covers of Ryu's deal. Like take the current team and add like Judge or deGrom, or a couple lower names, and we're not in a bad shape.

NYY is still a little bit of a mess no matter what happens with Judge. BOS has a lot of tough decisions to make too. TB is always TB, and while BAL is on the rise, they're still a step away. If the team can make a good move, or even get Gausman and Berrios back to the elite stars they can be, the team should be the favorite in the division. But they still need to spend to the cap, can't rest on where we are and hope that scrubs can fill in the holes we have.

Roberts is probably the best option out there, unless they don’t care about money anymore and then just overpay for Nimmo. A few red flags (defense might be in decline, inconsistent bat) but that’s true of anyone that might be available.

Not sure what Roberts would cost. The Pirates probably aren’t looking for a young C so they’d either have to love some package of semi-expendable prospects or maybe think that Kirk is a good enough hitter to be their primary DH.

Does he go in as a Jay? Spent as much time here as he did in Atlanta, had his best years here but won a world series with the Braves

Feels like he should have a split cap. More games in ATL, but more WAR in Toronto. A few solid years in TB towards the end of his career too (only 1 game less than TOR).
