OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

I think the non-platoon of Kiermeier is more that the main OF options they'd still be looking at would be more in the Conforto/Brantley type of player, who are even worse to platoon since they don't even have defensive value to bring to the table. I'd rather platoon Gurriel vs R than Kiermeier vs L if those are the 2 options for how to round out the OF.

That being said, I would assume that he'd still only play half the time against lefties at most, anyways. Against tough lefties, I'd assume they would give Merrifield time in the OF. You can live with Kiermeier against soft lefties.

If they can add that Conforto/Brantley LF/DH option, I think you can live with that going into the season. That's decent enough to run with, and you can always still look for an in-season upgrade if needed. Yeah, if you can swing the deal for Reynolds, that would be better. But I think you can live with the lesser option. Still only really pegs the team as a WC team, but hopefully good enough that you can always be at the top of the WC race.

Brantley makes a lot of sense, he could occasionally DH and platoon with Lourdes when needed. Agree that KK should sit against tough lefties with Springer in CF.

no sorry, you're right. It's fine to be simply a fan of hockey though, and the Leafs total ineptness and completely mediocre management may not specifically matter to you.

sure I guess? what does that have to do with anything at all, since I didn't criticize people who are bothered by it??

That offense around Judge is still janky as fuck though

It might be, but any offence with Judge, Rizzo and Stanton (who will not have a .227 babip again) in the middle of it probably isn't going to be too bad. I don't think it stacks up much worse than ours sans Teo tbh.

Sure Judge will regress, but we got rid of Teo and didn’t replace him without even worrying about regression lol. We may not even make the wild card.

They've got a lot of question marks behind Judge. It could be a great lineup with Rizzo, Stanton, Torres, etc... But everyone has some big injury risks or has had recent seasons of sucking that would give me big worries if I was a fan of the team.

But their pitching staff is pure filth.

Fangraphs has them projected for like 5 WAR more than the Jays. They actually have the Rays with more WAR as well, but that's definitely influences by a generous 5.4 WAR for Franco. But the Jays are still a healthy 5 WAR higher than the next WC team (less than 5 WAR ahead of HOU and CLE, but 5 to SEA and then 7 to CWS). So they're still in a good spot for the WC race.

Cant wait for the Judge/Stanton pulled hammies and calfs for 100 games combined

Benintendi, White Sox, 5 years, 5/75

Easy pass for me

I might have been tempted by that, given that he's not too old. You only need to be like a 2 WAR player to be worth that, and he's been worth that just about every year he's played so far. Compared to a lot of deals out there, it seems flat out cheap.
