OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

I have zero interest in banking on DH PA for Jansen and Kirk, both have injury histories Jansen only works as a DH vs LHP and KIrk maybe not at all. Do not let how you feel about these guys cause you to not sign a DH only bat.
Agree with most except Jansen has a reverse split and can DH anytime.

But generally, yeah, they need to worry about a third catcher more than about getting Jansen or Kirk time at DH.

Giants sign Jung Ho-Lee to 6/113M deal.

Anyone who claims to know whether this is good or bad is probably lying.

Nice numbers oversees and can play a decent CF from what i know.

Would have been open to him as a LF for us, but im just as okay not having this happen.
That’s crazy stuff. His numbers in Korea are good but not super-elite Eric Thames level.

Our offense isnt good enough to pass on one of the high end DH's, especially considering how shit the bat market is. Failure to land one of Soler, JDM, Hoskins, Garver or Teo IMO is a joke, and that includes if they sign a Bellinger/Chapman

So the Jays had about $40 mil or so leave in FA this offseason. I don't think they will lower the payroll this year with all the lower bowl seats to sell. So I don't see them dumpster diving this offseason.

I think they will get one of Bellinger or Chapman, in that order. And make a real pitch for Hoskins on a Pillow Contact. If they don't get Hoskins, maybe Teo?

Plus a 5th Starter. Ryu back on a two year deal?

If Manoah is still on the team, he should be in the rotation. I expect he’ll probably be moved as part of a package. Too bad as his value is all-time low right now.

IMO Tiedemann should be in the rotation if he’s healthy. If they have 5 other healthy guys, he can start in AAA but be first man up.

I still expect them to ease Tiedemann in, and only plan on him as a mid-season callup. He only had 1 start above AA, so they can easily justify keeping him down until around the trade deadline. He's probably not able to pitch more than like 100-120 innings next year anyways, so giving him 50-60 over the first like 2/3 of the season in the minors, and then calling him up for like another 50-60 in August/September/October(?) makes sense.

Manoah I do think they will trade, I can't imagine the relationship is in a good shape right now for them to trust him, and have him be willing to be sent down again if he struggles to start the season. My only hope is that we get someone good back for him, and not just pawned off to pawn him off. Whatever it is, it will be underwhelming.

Ya, I’d say it’s Belly or trade and then filler guys like IKH and that kind of garbage. They’ll 100% do a Votto signing, that I don’t doubt one bit with all the negative energy from last season, Atkins presser and now losing out on Ohtani/Soto. The casuals will love it and go see him. DH and backup 1B some games. If we’re going strictly DH, I know he’s old but I’d give JD Martinez a call.

Martinez, Soler, Hoskins, Garver, Teo are so much better than Votto, frankly so are Turner and Brantley.

You're reasons for why they sign him are very dumb

Some Highlights from BNS talking to Blake Murphy

- Doubts Jays go 200+ on Bellinger, thinks Giants or Cubs more likely ( this was recorded prior to Lee in SF)
- Thinks they very much are in the DH market but probably slow play it rather than giving 4 years or so to Soler, not alot of teams need a DH, have the money that Toronto does
- Feels LF and INF ( 3B) are more emergencies that need to be acted on. Thinks Chapman is possible, but they will have a limit for what they want to pay him. LIsted the usual suspects of Amed Rosario, IKF, Urshela. ( he seems to like this crop of crap way more than i do)
- Convinced they make one big trade ( not necessarily a blockbuster, but a significant one). Mentioned Max Kepler, Jorge Polanco, Andres Gimenez, Eloy Jimenez, Yoan Moncada, Willy Adames, Christian Yelich, Ryan McMahon
- Dabbling into SP market is possible to then flip a SP, but suspects only for a top end one like Yamamoto, Snell, Montgomery or Imanaga ( my assertions of top ones)
- Doesn't think Ohtani budget is transferred to other FA

I feel like in some sense Jonas is Forum Ice’s baby, and we’ve seen him grow from a know nothing shit into a quality poster….and while it’s taken twenty years for him to graduate, he’s now doing the yeoman’s work of often bringing a smarter take to the table, as a retort to something, with some illuminating info to support it.
