OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Why this is good for baseball, and all baseball fans everywhere should be eternally grateful to the Dodgers organization. My piece:

By: An American national baseball writer
The funny thing about his take on that is vast majority of MLB fans would have preferred Ohtani in Toronto than LA. Ask the small market American fans if they think him going to LA was good for baseball.

Mitch Garver 2/24 to Seattle

IMO this was an ideal DH candidate here who could spot in at C when Kirk/Jansen inevitably get hurt.

I really hope they are in on Martinez, Hoskins or Soler, but i pretty much expect them to pay more to Justin Turner for his ability to play 3B 10 times a year

I know lots of smaller market teams must feel this way about their teams, but now I'm totally feeling like, what's the point here?

We're obviously "going for it" as this is not a rebuild or even a retool, just a run back hoping to win it all. But with very little chance of that, all we're doing is burning what's left of Bo and Vlad. If we signed both to monster deals, I could live with some treading and hoping the usual "anything can happen in a short playoff series" (even though that "anything" is always us losing).

But the way things are, unless they add a couple of big names to build some additional hope and excitement, it's tough to give a crap, especially in the face of the Dodgers and their buy now, pay later offseason.

running back a team that ... made the playoffs ... OH THE HUMANITY . GIF

Running back a team that won 89 games, finished a distant 3rd in the division with the two teams that finished below us the historic, high spending titans of the division who aren't going to sit back and be happy with 4th & 5th...and was already reliant on players over 30.

They're also not really "running it back" yet. Their best hitter from last season hasn't been replaced yet, and the 3-4 war 3B hasn't actually re signed yet.

Yeah, this isn't good however the Shatkins brigade will try to spin it. Another year of planning to compete for a WC spot into the last week of the season.

KK was worth 2.2 WAR last year. Sure there is injury and age-related decline risk there, but the best argument I can come up with to hate signing him on a 1-year deal this much is that a guy turned down a job offer 8 years ago.

Obviously they still need to add a couple more bats.

But congrats on writing your off-season recap in December when there are clearly more moves coming.

The best reason is that it means there is no lineup upgrade coming by way of pushing Varsho to CF and adding a LF with a stick. But let's be real, you're not overly worried in framing the anti shatkins arguments honestly at this point, so whatever, put it however lets you feel smug and superior.

Kind of running out of places to put them, no?

"more moves"

I have no problem circling around in a few weeks. I have a feeling your material is going to be the same. 15 yr old memes and unearned smarm. But sure, we'll circle back after "more moves" happen.

Wait, which best hitter from last season is gone? I’m blanking.
