Jonas will be thrilled. Fine if he's the super-util replacing Espinal, shitty if he's supposed to be a starter.

Its actually shit on either level.

7.5M on an Espinal replacement is a bad waste of money from a sheer role to cost respective. If he's starting or part of a platoon its a war crime.

IKF best quality is his SS defence, which he wont be doing here unless disaster strikes. The fact he can play OF/3B should be ignored because the bat would be a league worst calibre bat in those positions.

Im not even sold he is that much better than Espinal, or Ernie Clement to be honest.

As a bench piece it's an expensive waste of money, as anything else its baseball Hiroshima and knowing how hard these losers get for run prevention i dont think this is a simple bench piece. He's going to play

could also be the Whit replacement. And I know you have struggled with this concept before, but every single team needs a backup SS. But I grant you it's a meh-as-fuck signing.

He's a shit Whit replacement ( not a sentence i'd think i'd need to say this year)

He's a very expensive backup SS for a team whose SS plays basically everyday.

As i said, at its best this is an egregious use of resources, at it's worst it's a nightmare.

It is in no way "meh"

Im also pretty convinced Justin Turner is on his way next with the idea of him being a hybrid 3B/DH with IKF/Biggio playing 3B when Turner DH's ( which will be alot, cause 39, probably cant play the field too much)

This will lead to lineups where we have a below avg DH ( Turner) and a league worst stick at 3B ( IKF)

They could simply sign a true DH and have him mash, and give other guys more off days to keep them healthy, but these fucking losers are really into versatility and run prevention now.

These guys have spent 28.5M in 2024 of their FA budget on a 4th setup man, second glove first CF, shifting their other one to LF where his value drops dramatically, and i dunno a 5-8 versatile middle INF that cannot hit

they've signed KK and replaced Whit for the same price as last year.

Ewww. Why even spend a single dollar on a guy that is way below average offensively? Call up a minor leaguer for a fraction. Use that money on actual quality.

Can you imagine what Vlad and Bo are thinking currently. Even springer and Gausman. They gotta be saying WTF are we supposed to do with this guy. Also Bo is probably planning his dream home in LA for when the dodgers sign him.

SS Bichette --> SS Bichette
DH Belt ---------> ??
1B Guerrero --> 1B Guerrero
RF Springer --> RF Springer
3B Chapman -> ??
C Jansen -------> C Jansen
LF Varsho ------> LF Varsho
CF Kiermaier --> CF Kiermaier
2B Biggio --------> 2B Biggio

UT Schneider --> UT Schneider
UT Merrifield ---> UT IKF
UT Espinal --------> UT Espinal
C Kirk ----------------> C Kirk

I think if anything, there has gotta be a trade coming. Espinal and IKF are the same player (well Espinal's defense cratered last year as he put on more muscle). IKF's defensive numbers at 3rd are elite.

Putting on my Tinfoil Hat, there were some rumors of the Jays shopping Springer during the Ohtani spectacle. Maybe there is a trade of Manoah, Springer, and Espinal (+ stuff) for players we haven't thought about yet. Sign Belly for Springer's money (cost neutral) and then sign a pitcher?

Taking my Tinfoil Hat off.
