OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Really needed a swingman who can start in case of injury, so he should be able to fill that role and either start in AAA or pitch out of the bullpen if everyone's healthy.

YR had great numbers, other than K-rate, as a RP in Japan in 2022. His 2021 was pretty meh, 2.95 ERA, 1.0HR/9, 4.7BB/9, 9.6K/9 in 94 innings, mostly as a starter.

He was okay as a starter in Cuba before that, but that’s going back 5 years now, and the numbers weren’t so great that you’d expect them to translate to 5th starter in MLB.

He didn’t pitch at all professionally last year.

So a lot is riding on his 54 innings of relief 2 years ago and 7 innings against bad teams at the WBC. Have to hope either his stuff or command took a big jump forward.

Maybe it was more accurate to say they haven't done anything, and don't seem to be doing anything, so this is the thing they're doing.

Has Chapman signed? Has Belly? How about all the Aces?

This has been a slow offseason, last offseason was slow, and it is looking like all the offseasons moving forward will be slow. Welcome to the new paradigm.

For reference the year Springer and Semien signed, they were not signed at this point

They appear to be waiting out, a very weak market.

I hate the IKF signing like so unbelieveably much, but there hasn't been a non Soto/Ohtani player that has changed teams that i would lose sleep over

Super slow off season, wonder if it has to do with a very underwhelming class?

Could be, but you’d think an underwhelming class could also mean nobody is really waiting out the top FA and players just get signed.

It could also be that the Dodgers specifically were throwing around so much money at the top of the market that there’s a big gap between what the other FA think they can get and what normal, non-LAD teams are willing to pay.

Pitchers and catchers report in 25 days! The dam is going to break soon.
