Bellinger back to the Cubs 3/80 with opt-outs every year.

Guess he didn't get his 6 year deal. That's one I don't think I would mind. At least the term won't kill you like the 150 or 200m demand initially reported on him was.

Does it involve saying that slumpy chapman and ikf are the same thing, and chapman was only good in April so it doesnt matter? Then do you show me a potato, ask me to think about it? then bash me in the head with the potato until i agree with you?
 
It’s only going to seem worse as more of these deals start trickling in.

The Jays admin has painted themselves into a corner being so dependent on FA to fill so many holes, they can’t afford to wait out the market.

Is Chapman's 2 months worth 15 mil more per year? Sounds like a good strategy.

I am waiting until the Trade Deadline when the same people who said the Jays have no prospects to compete for MLB spots will then say that Shatkins should not care about prospects because they don't end up doing much and go for it. That should be fun!

my personal favourite is how we constantly hear about Shatkins being too sweet spot of shared risk to spend money ... but the only reason they make the playoffs every year is that they spend so much money.

Yes. I mean, you can't do this "lol, you're dumb, this is what 1.5 WAR costs on the open market" and then criticize people wanting to pay 15 million more for a 4 WAR player.

Disingenuous bullshit. The Jays can absolutely have a bad prospect pool (this is true according to every publication who follows those sorts of things) and they can also be in a position where they should "go for it" at the expense of their meager prospect pool. You seem to be preparing excuses for the front office to continue their tepid approach to winning.
 
I don’t really get the need to insult the intelligence of anyone who doesn’t think this admin is amazing. Or who points out that building a playoff bubble team with a top-tier payroll is not really a great accomplishment. But to each their own, I guess.
 
The fact that most Boras players haven't signed by late February is because of Scott Boras, full stop. And there are only so many teams with money who need a 3B. Doesn't seem to be much of a rumour mill for Chapman lately, still seems like Toronto or San Francisco are probably his top 2 options.
