OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Does seem pretty unlikely we'll have the same amount of health in the rotation this year. Tiedemann and Francis are turning heads in spring training which is encouraging, because we're almost certainly going to need them this year.

Tiedemann is “turning heads” in spring training? He got scratched from his scheduled start because of a hamstring injury. He hasn’t thrown a single pitch yet.

He had a decent sim inning apparently, and optimistically might build up to 3-4 innings by the start of the year. Not a rotation option at this point.

Yes, Tiedemann has been throwing in Dunedin and reportedly looked really good. And I didn't say he's a rotation option right now, I said we will likely need him "this year". But it should be mentioned that he'll likely top out around 100 IP.

Everyone knows what he can do though, I was mostly referring to multiple positive reports about Francis.

Fair then just to say that Francis is turning heads. That’s why I listed him as the 4th starter in the rotation in the event that Gausman and Manoah aren’t ready.

Francis was the other guy they got back for Rowdy Tellez. He looks great, but it remains to be seen how his stuff holds up as a starter.

Im a Votto fan, but he's probably not better than Vogelbach and there is no way you can have both.

Fun treat for anyone who went down for ST this year though

Guys like Votto I always find a bit weird how to handle. Like, on the one hand, giving him a few games, letting him play for the hometown team, and at least letting him retire on his own terms is great. but on the other hand, I kind of feel that a guy who does play his whole career for one team has a certain something to it. Especially if he like comes to Toronto, hits .200 in 25 games, and is released by June.

They have the chance to give the last roster spot to a Canadian icon, all-time great, future HOF who may be a perfect fit for the team. Downside is probably losing Ryan Vogelbach. Seems like an easy choice to me.

The job they are applying for is bench bat that mashes RHP.

Vogelbach looks like the better candidate.

To be clear about something. Even if i think Vogelbach is a better fit for the job in question i am not that miserable enough of an asshole to complain if Votto takes the job over him for sentimental reasons.
