What evidence to the contrary? The only evidence is that he's wanted what he feels he was worth, and that Shatkins was intent on never paying it. There's no evidence at all that he's not been willing to sign, or been asking for extortionist numbers in comparison to his market value to stay.
Who cares? If he's DH'ing and putting up 140-160 wRC+ seasons still what does it matter?
He played this very well publicly (oh yes, I'm such a great guy and I'd love to come back ... at my number) ... but what if his number is 700 million? And I don't know why you're so willing to give in to what a player thinks he's "worth" ... teams and agents both have calculators and comparables.
MINDZ: I think Bo Bichette is worth 6/150. Might be a little much but I've crunched the numbers and think it's fair.
BO: I'm worth 6/400.
MINDZ: The Jays have agreed to sign Bo Bichette for 6 years, $400 million.
Here's a list I found on Reddit, this is not what the players thought they were worth, these are offers MADE BY TEAMS lol. What players think they are worth is not always anywhere near the reality of what they're actually worth.
