OT: Vacations

Questions:

1) Iceland? Actually a real place? I'm skeptical
2) Should I go there? I'm thinking yes. Oddly I'm less skeptical about this than whether or not it's a real place
3) How offended will a Mexican be by the weather in September?

definitely sweater weather but she might dig volcanos, whale watching and glimpsing at the aurora borealis

never made it there...but was in Helsinki around that time and was considering a pit stop in Rekjyavik

LOL. Don't hang out with many Mexicans, do you?

I once saw a young woman at a tianguis in Tonala wearing a fucking parka in 26C temps mate. I was the only person there wearing shorts.

i admittedly was sugarcoating it a bit....also, the beginning of September > end of September.
Up there every day away from peak summer seems to make a substantial difference

Yeah, I'm in Vietnam right now and it's similar. Low 20s weather, tourists are all in shorts and a t-shirt, locals only take off the fur coats and parkas when the sun comes out in the middle of the day.

But yeah, pack all the winter clothing (whatever you would have worn in Edmonton at -30 probably about what she'd want to wear in Iceland at that time of year). Otherwise, I've only ever connected through there, but it's pretty much a fictional place from all I could tell. Hamburgers are like 30$, the landscape is definitely inspired by science fiction on a foreign planet. I really want to go there again and get out of the airport next time...

Iceland is amazing and well worth the trip.

The key with whales is to just eat the tender loin and throw the rest of it back in the ocean

seriously though you should feel fucking terrible anytime you eat a whale.

and they taste shitty anyways so why even bother.

Boring

aaaaand for that reason, I'm out.
y'all needed to go scuba diving back when there were more fishes in the ocean. and then learn that by doing shit like eating whales, you're condemning much of that amazing marine ecosystem to death.

it would really suck if I've already done all the best scuba diving of my life before I hit 35 cause we have killed off all the marine life in our oceans. but we are heading that way and it makes me sad.

and scuba diving is one of my absolute favourite activities in existence. just surreal to drop down into another world like that. so I try to do my part for the fishes, cause they don't get to vote or lobby congress.

lol, no, fuck you. That's a shark's house. I don't like it when people barge into my house unannounced, I'm liable to cut someone. Hard to get mad at a shark if I barge into his house unannounced and he cuts me.
sharks aren't like you though. they're chill and very hospitable. probably my favourite creature to encounter underwater. truly majestic creatures

It basically tastes like steak...SPS is a weirdo veggietarian so his opinion means nothing!
what cut of streak lol? the food in Iceland is amazing and super adventurous but the whale we had was definitely the worst thing we ate. basically was like just chomping down on a pile of blubber.

and my visit to Iceland predated both my pseudo-vegetarianism and my wife, who is largely responsible for it.
