OT: Vacations

The Amphibious boat tour was good fun. I think it's Viking themed and they stop at points on the street and battle cry at people on the streets (who usually yell back). A bit cheesy, but I loved it.

Then it wasn't a ripoff.

As long as you enjoyed most of it.

The ripoffs are paying 40$ and having more fun on your phone than the sights.

I think it was considerably less when I went, at least 10 years ago now. I personally thought it was well worth it, but whenever I see a travel blog for Ireland, they all say it isn't worth it. 🤷‍♂️

eh sometimes you pay more than something is worth and enjoy it anyways. or at least, I do now. would never consider it in my 20s...

Yeah, it's not cheap, but then again, it's not like anything in Dublin is either. I just had a look, and it's somewhere in the 26 to 36 euro range. So it's definitely in that range of being more expensive than a typical museum like the Little Museum of Dublin, but it's not super expensive. Most of it is not that much different than a standard brewery tour, but then Guiness is something a little more special. And it does have one of the better views. It's kind of like going up the CN Tower - expensive, probably not worth it if you live there or to do on every visit, but if you're only there once, there's worse ways to spend your day.

To each their own. It's a very simple concept that half the world just can't seem to understand.

Pearson is a shît show. I have to fly through there next week with the family on the way to Newfoundland and we are not looking forward to it.

Air travel is a joke in canada. Have to be some of the highest cost around and horrible service from both major airlines. Once upon a time westjet had great service for everyone not just a select few. If your lucky enough to have status with either or you may get some benefits but even those ppl get hosed.

I was thinking of treating myself to a staycationy weekend thing in Orange County this summer, at a hotel that used to be like $500 a night. It is now $2,100 per night standard, no matter how far out I look. What in the actual fuck. It’s impossible that they’re selling the place out at that rate, so what the hell is going on out there.
