OT: WWE/MMA/Boxing Thread

Not gonna lie, kind of shocked he made 64 years old...that's a hell of a ride.
Yeah given all he survived, it's shocking he died of a hip replacement gone wrong. It feels like Batman dying because he didn't look both ways before crossing the street.

Razor Ramon was my favorite as a kid, I pulled the Razor's edge on my daughter in memorium. Rip.

Absolutely bangin' card. No idea what happened to Hooker though, he used to be a monster, but since his chin got shattered against Chandler, he hasn't looked the same.

Hooker had a nice little stretch at 155, but the turning point of his career was that all-time war against Dustin Poirier. Never been the same after that.

Not to mention, he's been in a looooot of wars before that one. Re-watch his fight against Edson Barboza. He took an absolute beating.

I don't think his chin's shot, I just think he's lost a step and the sport's kind of passed him by. He doesn't have mobility anymore to last at 145 and he's not strong enough to be a fighter of note at 155.

If he still wants to fight, I think he needs a long break to reinvent himself, spend time improving his skills. I wouldn't fight against in 2022 if I was him.

So an eventful week in MMA.

Jorge attacked Colby as he was walking out of a restaurant, was then arrested & there are charges pressed against him.

Chael got 11 charges against him.

Bellator's bantamweight tournament is falling apart before it even started, unfortunately. Sergio Pettis blew out his knee and James Gallagher won't be ready for the tournament due to recovery from surgery.

The best welterweight outside of the UFC (Roberto Soldic) looks like he's about to sign with them and might be jumping head first into tough competition.

ONE X has a badass card tomorrow morning, for those of you who want to wake up early. 8AM start time for the main card. ONE Championship is run by charlatans whose base primal instincts is to lie and fraudulently pump their numbers up, but this is a banging card:

And even if you're not watching live, if you enjoy MMA & combat sports, try to find the time to watch this.

DJ vs Rodtang in a mixed mma-kickboxing fight loll sign me right the fuck up. I wish the rounds were longer than 3 mins. If DJ makes it to the MMA round - he will probably sub Rodtang.

Khamzat hype train is real.

Burns-Colby next pls. Dana has to stop letting him duck top fighters not named Usman.

Khamzat needs to tighten his game up if he wants to beat Usman.

Dana said this week that Khamzat would probably fight Colby next if he won. That's a fight I would be very curious to see.

I like Khamzat-Colby too. Pillow hands isn't knocking him out and Khamzat's wrestling is kind of silly good too.

I just want to see Colby fight a legit top of the division fighters other than Usman, who we've seen him fight twice, get smashed on twice and try to tap his way to a decision against twice. His losses against Usman were fairly ballsy, but I still haven't seen him win impressively. His last 5 wins were against 37 yr old Masvidal, 38 yr old Woodley, 38 yr old Lawler, 39 yr old Maia, & 34 yr old undersized for the division RDA. A lot of impressive names right at the end of their careers, well past their best before date.

So pissed, bet365 fucked me. They reset the accounts and got rid of all futures bets that I made. Just signed on tonight after the fights to see cash into my account and got the notifications. Lost over $2k tonight cause of it. Bet hard on Sterling to win by decision (or just win in any method).

Also, sucks as it seems I cannot make bets outside the country anymore. System got smarter and noticing my VPN being used. Wanted to replace my leafs bet for the cup and couldn’t

Anyone know other modes for online betting outside of North America? Draft Ks doesn’t work either

I do not understand how round 1 could go to Yan

I watched the round again today and yeah, I struggle to see where anyone would feel that he won it. It was a generally uneventful round, but Aljo landed a bunch of decent body kicks. I've seen a few breakdowns counting the strikes landed in the 1st round and the general consensus was 9-12 for Aljo (depending on how you feel about a few partially blocked body kicks) and 5 max for Yan, none of them heavy. Yan controlled the centre, which typically counts as a tie break in an more or less evenly struck round, but the 1st was not evenly struck.

Round 2, by the letter of the rule, should have been a 10-8 round.

Judges shall ALWAYS give a score of 10 – 8 when the judge has established that one fighter has dominated the action of the round, had duration of the domination and also impacted their opponent with either effective strikes or effective grappling maneuvers that have diminished the abilities of their opponent. Judges must CONSIDER giving the score of 10 – 8 when a fighter shows dominance in the round even though no impactful scoring against the opponent was achieved. MMA is an offensive based sport. No scoring is given for defensive maneuvers. Using smart, tactically sound defensive maneuvers allows the fighter to stay in the fight and to be competitive. Dominance of a round can be seen in striking when the losing fighter continually attempts to defend, with no counters or reaction taken when openings present themselves. Dominance in the grappling phase can be seen by fighters taking DOMINANT POSITIONS in the fight and utilizing those positions to attempt fight ending submissions or attacks.

Hard to have a more dominant grappling position than being a backpack and chasing rear nakeds for 3:30.

That's how 10-8 rounds are explained in the official explanation guide for the unified rules. Round 2 was a "10-8 round" that wasn't award 10-8.

Aljo then won round 3 clearly as well.

Yan lost the belt on a clear foul and blamed everyone but himself, and now lost this fight clean and is again blaming everyone but himself.
