PLAYOFF GDT: Series 4 / Game 5: @ Tampa Bay, Wednesday, July 7th, 8:00EST (TB Leads 3-1)

I still can't believe that Staal...with all his experience, hockey IQ, pedigree.....decided to mail it on that play that led to the goal

Still bitter about it....but still, Tampa would have probably found a way to win

How is playing guys who can barely skate (Toffoli, Gally) vs the fastest team in the league advisable?
Yep....

A rookie coaching staff problem

A veteran coaching staff would have benched those guys....fuck them, when will you ever get a chance to be in the Finals again.

DD-Richardson were coaching to keep the room happy, and getting a contract next year.

Laviolette-Quennville don't care about Staal-Gally-Toffoli status, they bench them

Staal brought nothing.....even in previous rounds.....he was the product of Perry-Armia

Staal had a great game 7 vs Leafs....sprung Gallagher on his goal and Toffoli on the EN. (those guys could skate 6 weeks ago)...but yeah not much production since then

it's frustrating, because Tampa top players barely did anything against us...their legendary PP was caca against us.....we lost because their 3rd-4th line dominated our 3rd-4th line. We needed Perry-Armia to NOT be pulled down by guys like Staal.....Suzuki-Cole NOT to be pulled down with Toffoli (which eventually coaches realized Anderson was better fit)

Aside from the play of Vasy obviously, we got beat by our mistakes and their depth.

Playing Staal over Evans then KK was a huge mistake.

It reminded me of Detroit-Avs series back in late 90's........the 3rd-4th lines always were the differences

(of course, Habs are not Avs-Detroit of late 90's)

Edmundson had a great playoff, but he made a couple of doozies.

And Chariots of Tire Fire... well. Comme d’habitude.

I hope they trade Weber but they won't. They'll believe they can do this again in a normal season.

Edmundson was far better than expected. I've no issue with them protecting him. Chiarot can go though.
Too much hate towards Chiarot

Ask Leafs-Jets-Vegas what they thought of him….he did his job

He was arguably our best dmen on most nights

Definitely a playoff warrior

Weber needs to go the Kucherov route….surgery and rehab until playoffs

Weber’s cross-checking/slashing routine only works in playoffs when refs use a different rules books. He is barely effective in regular season

You can get a slasher that won't ice the puck every second attempt.

Re: Weber, as GGpX said, they would have to eat 50% of the cap hit. Would be hard to find a dance partner.
If Weber was willing to play his final three seasons (all three seasons combine for $5M in salary) and we were able to retain 50% then I think you could get a very nice return for him. A $3.75M caphit is much more manageable and they'd be paying him in salary 25% of what his caphit will be?

Habs got beat by TBay’s D corps IMO - McDonogh had a phenomenal series, Cernak was excellent, and their 3rd pair was very solid if unspectacular.

Had Weber & Petry had healthy hands, have to think they would’ve scored 6-8 goals these playoffs, but that lack of offensive generation really crippled the Habs in the finals
