Sinclair/Ballys/ESPN/TNT ... broadcasting access, tips and notes

Ech ... trading red graphics for green is not an upgrade. Swapping Ballys for FanDuel is like swapping Bud Light for Coors Light ... not enough difference to actually matter.

Thanks for the heads up though. I guess I'll know what to search for tomorrow when I'm finally forced to take that plunge.

Well, I just signed up for the Bally app - $124.99 for just the Canes (and the Hornets, which I will never watch) and runs through April.

Here is more on the Bally’s to FanDuel rebranding. In a court filing, Diamond Sports asked the bankruptcy court to approve the deal by Monday or FanDuel can walk away from it. Terms of the transaction weren’t disclosed in the filing other than FanDuel holds options and warrants to purchase up to 10% of the new Diamond Sports when it emerges from bankruptcy.

Yeah, the season deal for $125 was a nice change this year, even if the $15 in savings over paying $20 per month for seven months like I did last year isn't much (and is essentially zero when you consider that you have to shell it out up front). At least you don't have to worry about forgetting to cancel and getting stuck with an extra month.

Wait, what? Is there a Hurricanes season deal? I didn’t see that when signing up. I just got the recurring $20/month thing.

I can't decide which is worse-the endless same UNC commercials or the famous "commercial break in progress." Which will now probably be all Fanduel gambling commercials

It's the repetition that kills ya. So, I'd go with they both suck in pretty much the same way. So long as they vary between 15-20 different FanDuel ads and they turn on the randomizer, I'd take that any day over the same thing in the same order every freaking ad break.

The bouncing basketball echoing through the house on commercial breaks just gets my wife’s blood boiling…70 times a season no less x 3 periods…🤣

I don’t watch anything live anymore. I start watching an hour in so I can fast forward through commercials.
That worked part of the time for me, but often when I stopped fast forwarding to see where I was, I couldn't push beyond that dreadful Commercial Break in Progress, even though I still hadn't caught up to live broadcast.

Diamond sports group reached an agreement with Amazon prime

Sports Group, the bankrupt operator of regional sports networks, has announced a commercial agreement with streaming giant Amazon that will allow in-market fans to watch their teams through Prime Video.

The agreement extends to Diamond's 16 RSNs in 31 states and will be available "as an add-on subscription" for those who already have access to Amazon Prime, limited to customers corresponding within each team's designated geographic area, Diamond announced in a news release Wednesday.

Pricing and a start date have yet to be determined. The agreement is nonexclusive, which means fans can also stream local games through the FanDuel Sports Network website.

Also noteworthy is that MLB and the Atlanta Braves withdrew their objections to Diamond’s bankruptcy reorganization plan, paving the way forward for the plan ahead of Thursday’s court hearing.
