Threads is fucking great.
Has it's flaws, but already feels well on it's way to replacing Twitter as the place to go to get your up to the second breaking news from trusted sources.
Most of the complaints I've seen feel rather off base too....they're either largely irrelevant, easily fixable already, or are easy to see resolved by Meta in the long run.
OG twitter had its faults, Zuck obviously has his....(trying to toe the line between profits/democracy that he completely blew it in 15/16)....but in a world where nothing is free, and our data is largely the accepted currency we use to pay for these services....Zuck at least tries like OG twitter to have the ship directed in the quasi-right direction.
Musk on the other hand bought twitter for one of two primary reasons imo, (a) To buy some power to influence elections going forward, towards whoever would give him the least regulation/most subsidies...or (b) to attempt to cozy up to the right to expand his customer base for Tesla which I believe was previously around 70% well educated liberals, or some shit.
....in the course of all that, he obviously destroyed what value Twitter had to most of us and turned it into an unrecognizable cesspool. Choosing between that or Zuck, isn't much of a decision imo. And like it or not, unlike Mastodon, Bluesky, or whoever else has shot their shot....no one can compete with the kind of instant large scale adoption Threads just pulled off.....the race has been run imo, and Threads will be the undisputed king we all use, as the twitter replacement.
