It'll really be fascinating to see what happens if McDavid cruises to another 100+ point season while his team crashes out of the playoffs in the second-half of the season. How does he not demand a trade at that point?

He did it to himself, though. There was no good reason to sign for the full eight years with that shit-show of a franchise. He had all the leverage in the world to demand at least the same AAV he ended up getting, but on a four-year contract that walked him to UFA as soon as possible.

2024/25 is the last year of Johnny T's contract, and 2025/26 is the last year of McDavid's.

Lines up almost perfectly.
 


Sign Barb to a 10-year deal. The progress some of our players and prospects have made with their skating has been amazing to watch.
 
I'm surprised that they didn't throw a whole bunch of money at Barb only to work with Leafs players and she's not ours exclusively.

I can only imagine their shock at the new run and gun non-playoff hockey's effect on goals and shots against.

The best bit about this is that Freddy was just going through a "funk" according to the local media (which was true, he's been pretty meh for a bit now) so their old "Freddy for Vezina" reflex doesn't even work for them right now. They actually have to consider that maybe, maybe they don't understand the game that they get paid to talk about.

Don't be silly, no they won't.

Although I will say that I don't listen to Overdrive that much but I think Jeff O'Neill has always shit on Babs. Most of the media treated him pretty well until he got canned though, IMO.
 
It's just Dave Poulin and Bryan Hayes in today. Hayes seems to be encouraged though yeah. Said Willy is a steal at 6.9 if he gets 30+ and 70 points. Hayes is the same guy that has basically called Willy trash for the last twelve months and has called his contract is awful many times. They're all hot take artists that change their opinions on a dime.

I think Leaf fans have been watching shitty players too long and they've gotten used to appreciating players who have to make up for having very little talent in other ways.
