The Fantastically Beautiful Joyously Superfun 22-23 Season Celebration Thread

he's still making a bigger deal than it has to be...sounds like he doesn't want to deal with the million think pieces that would result from a short lived breakup. well, guess what, the think pieces are still being produced, and many of them will be aiming for his thick skull

Yep, this is a simple thing for him to deal with "There's a lot of value in mixing the line combos during the year at different times. It can get guys away from habits they develop just playing with the same 2 guys, and can make them even better when we go back to our preferred line set up"

You're sending the message that it's not punitive (which he's failing to do right now, he's making it sound like he's not ready to put Mitch and Auston on timeout in the corner yet), you're reinforcing that there's positive benefits in line mixing (because there is) and that you know M&M are better together and that's the end destination of any tinkering (because they are).

Making it seem like a big deal, makes it a big deal.

It's so early. Maybe the Habs, Sharks, Yotes, and Ducks are all going to be awesome this year, and we actually lost to some of the best teams, and so all of this worrying is for nothing.

I feel so much better now.

LeafOfFaith losing Faith is the scariest thing of all for me. This was the same guy that thought the Leafs could win a cup with an .880 goalie. Where did he go? COME BACK
I'm right here! I just explained how we're probably awesome and just succumbing to superior hockey clubs.

I think you maybe took that a bit too literally since he was responding to my post just above his...

Unless you just want the fully optimistic and unflappable me back too?

Sandin-Rielly 22min, 54.4xgf%, 53.0gf%
Rielly-Brodie 114min, 51.6xgf%, 22.3gf%
Rielly-Mete 14min, 44.9xgf%, 100.0gf%

Brodie-Holl 40min, 69.1xgf%, 73.3gf%
Muzzin-Holl 47min, 44.2xgf%, 66.7gf%
Sandin-Holl 68min, 42.0xgf%, 00.0gf%

Gio-Sandin 64min, 58.5xgf%, 100.0gf%
Gio-Kral 14min, 58.1xgf%, 51.8gf%
Gio-Mete 39min, 53.0xgf%, 100.0gf%

So as a pure shutdown top matchup dzone start pairing, Brodie-Holl has legit dominated. Good to see.

For me nothing is more important than getting Mo off the top matchup pairing, like what we had in the playoffs with the Muzz-Brodie pairing taking the toughs. Mo should dominate in secondary matchups and he's never really had that opportunity in his career. If brodie-Holl can keep it up then we get 2 other pairings that should just dominate the secondary and lower matchups with Mo, Gio, Ras, and Lilly.

Sandin-Rielly (i.e. Mo on the right side) looked fine by eye test and the numbers support it so i'm not sure why Keefe went away from it so quickly. I still think he's a better choice on the right side than Sandin, simply due to skating ability.

We'll see tommorrow what Keefe is thinking but my preference would be

Sandin-Rielly
Giordano-Lilly

or actually what i wanted to see before the season started:

Gio-Rielly
Sandin-Lilly

but I wouldn't be surprised to see:

Rielly-Lilly
Gio-Sandin

I'm just fucking amazed at how good Gio still is. Hopefully the old guy can keep it up all year. Doubt they will but they ought to load manage him down the stretch. He can carry anyone on that third pair it seems.
