The Fantastically Beautiful Joyously Superfun 22-23 Season Celebration Thread

This is great for the "historical" players in NHL 99

All those #11 ranks are designed to fuck my pretty little chart right up.

Anyways, 20gms in - our 5v5 play has been good but not great both offensively and defensively, while both special teams have been very good.

The only true weakness so far has been our finishing at even strength, which has been piss poor.

The goaltending has been legit good, even with the 4th stringer playing half the games.

It's still almost impossible to convince anyone the D corps is anything but godawful even when totally healthy.

Even though the narrative about Campbell being free of our D totally blew up. Even though we've gone 6-3-1 in our last 10 with D injuries. We're never going to change that narrative, are we? It's always going to be "trade Marner the cancer for D help" and shit like that.

Auston is on pace for 37/86 this season and we're massively disappointed in him so far.

Mats Sundin is 30th all time in points and a full blown Leaf Legend. He scored more than 37 goals as a Leaf twice in 13 years, and more than 86 points once.

That's how good Auston is. We're disappointed in receiving Peak Sundin out of him.

yeah but he’ll score 60 goals in the last 60 games.

I do think something is a little off with Matthews and we've seen it in stretches before when his back or wrist was bothering him. It's impressive how in those stretches he still finds ways to score goals on tip-ins and in front of the net but I'm not sure he's been usual Matthews yet.

Era adjusted I think Sundin would do better. Clutch and grab Era.

I still wear my Mats captain Leafs jersey! I think I purchased it around when I started posting with you turkeys in 2000.

To be a little fair, our team defence has quite often been the problem even though the guys playing the position mostly take the fall...and our team defense has greatly improved over the last couple seasons...not getting credit regardless though yeah

I don't think the hockey world's perceptions have kept up really. We haven't been able to finish at all 5 on 5 this year, we seem to say it every single night in every GDT and all I'm hearing is how we need to trade the core for D.

I have slowly become concerned that he’s playing through something and the leafs are being dumb to not sit and rest him.
