The Fantastically Beautiful Joyously Superfun 22-23 Season Celebration Thread

ZAR and Kampf seem passable as PK specialists. Glad to see McMann and Holmberg back up with the big club though.
This is why I think you could play 11/7 Kampf and Zar get little time each period to keep the legs fresh, but then play the majority of the PK

The rest of the minutes to the top two lines and ROR is on the third line with Acciari and Knies or Kerfoot, or maybe even Bunting... As it seems that Matthews personally told Keefe to put him up with them and it looks like it could work.

Maybe Bunting works with JT... I also think Marner should maybe play again with JT and put Willy back with Matthews.

Jarnkrok Matthews Willy That's a heavy heavy line that can make plays and shoot.
Bunting JT Marner Maybe Bunting draws some space for the boys by being a pest
Knies/Lafferty ROR Acciari That's a defensively sound line that can hit you as well and tire out the other teams top line.
ZAR Kampf PK and spot duty DZone plays

That's fire right there.

Honestly I think their 4th line is still quite good, all things considered. The issue for me is their 3rd line... And as zeke said, Acciari should really be on the 3rd line on this roster. No way Lafferty should be playing above him in any lineup. When ROR gets back and MAYBE JUST MAYBE Knies signs and can make a decent impact.. That's when they could get cookin a bit. But in the absence of Knies being a thing it's tough to be too bullish on their bottom 6 if ZAR and Lafferty continue to take regular shifts.

Jarn-Matthews-Nylander
Bunting-Tavares-Marner
Kerfoot-ROR-Acciari
McMann/ZAR-Kampf

Toss Knies in there for Acciari if he's half decent and drop Acciari on the 4th line. That's my bull case for this bottom 6 to really shape up to be more than decent. Average 3rd line production from Knies with solid nerdies would be a gamechanger.

Honest opinion request:

Do any of you feel that this is indeed Keefe's last ride in the playoffs? Fail and he's out?

Absolutely should be.

I also wouldnt be surprised if Keefe is pulling some of the strings on the trade acquisitions.

So if he can't get the job done with this group he should see the door.

It should be, I would have punted after last year.

Anything but an ECF appearance should be a pink slip this year.

Leafs and Tampa's xgf patterns this year are so similar. The sharp declines are very interesting. Tampa seem to have gotten their act together but are still struggling with consistency

Boston I added for compaison just to show what appears to be a hot start followed by a normal regression path

I kinda feel like Dubas will be back but Keefe isn't safe.

I know others would give both the boot.

Agree with this. Some of the moves at this deadline really felt like dubas giving Keefe what he wanted, and if it doesn't work out, he will be the first piece to fall.

If we disappoint, Keefe should definitely go. No question.

I’d want Dubas to stay, only to see if the vet love over worthy kids shit stops suddenly. But it’s hard to imagine a scenario where Keefe gets dumped and at the same time Dubas gets extended.

The volume of moves made this month make me lean towards Dubas not going anywhere. I cant see a lame duck GM having the authority to go scorched earth at the deadline with some confidence from the board

Leafs can beat both of these teams quite easily. They always seem to play Boston very competitively and Tampa is mostly coinflip games. The problem is that they're likely 2 coin flip series so you're banking on landing on tails 2 times in a row. And then you may be getting the Canes so toss another coin flip there. Tough no matter what and while not winning a cup this year is technically a failure, it's gonna be really hard for me to be too critical providing they have a strong, competitive showing.
