The Fucking Season Thread - Redemption Tour '22

It's not so much "waiting until the team gets over the top" as "waiting until they demonstrate they're even capable of climbing higher than base camp".

But now is their chance to do that. Unless you are going to blow it up and rebuild for 2026.

Honestly, a Kessel deal where they pick up an elite skilled player with term and salary retention for like Amirov, Hirvonen and a 1st would be perfect.

That'd be the key for me.

If they blow their brains out in a trade this year, I'd want it to be a player with at least some term. But until this team actually shows they legitimately are on the cusp of winning a Cup (and no, good regular seasons don't count), I don't want any more "king's ransom for a pure rental" type trades.

But if they're not capable of doing that then they might as well blow it up. If you're gonna commit to these guys, give them added reinforcements while you're at it. Go all-in. Don't tip-toe. Be aggressive!

Chychrun is the rumored name that I keep going back and forth on. Tough to tell exactly how good he is, but there is a chance he's a legit 2-way potential #1D type on a very nice contract. We could squeeze him in without losing any major pieces, and maybe only 2-3 of our relatively interchangeable future pieces.

But again that depends on exactly how good he is. He might not even be OEL.

The upside there is that he's not paid like OEL. 3 more years at 4.6 million left after this year, so he's paid like a #3 defender and he's probably at least that.

I think you've gotta pick one in that general situation. You can't risk the prospect/acquisition capital on a question mark that is getting paid (Seth Jones, for example). But if he's being paid under what his market rate is, there's some logic to taking a risk on him being worth the 1st + Prospect + good roster bodies they're going to want.

Chychrun's numbers the last 2 years were insane. He could be a young Muzzin/Brodie. Not really sure where he fits in, but he's young and has a great contract.

Curious to see how long it takes for the first omicron reinfection. Betcha these sports infections will give us the best data on that. We can only hope protection lasts longer than a few months. Not quite convinced tho.

Could have playoff implications
