The Fucking Season Thread - Redemption Tour '22

The early season shooting slump was really something - we still haven't recovered from it even though our shooting had been back up near the top the past couple months.

Other than that, the only non-awesome area had been our even strength defense, which has been above average but not great. But that has also been steadily climbing and is now just a tiny tick out of the top 10.

The upside there is that he's not paid like OEL. 3 more years at 4.6 million left after this year, so he's paid like a #3 defender and he's probably at least that.

I think you've gotta pick one in that general situation. You can't risk the prospect/acquisition capital on a question mark that is getting paid (Seth Jones, for example). But if he's being paid under what his market rate is, there's some logic to taking a risk on him being worth the 1st + Prospect + good roster bodies they're going to want.

FYI...

If we trade Ritchie now, that's $1.7m in capspace.

At the deadline, that covers a caphit about triple as much, so near $5m.....which covers Chychrun's contract all by itself.

Who moves to the right side if you get Chychrun? Rielly I guess right?

Muzzin-Brodie
Chychrun-Rielly

Chychrun or Rielly I guess.

And I will always still note that despite Babcock's protests the Muzzin-Rielly pair was great in the couple weeks they were together.

I can't remember when he got it the first time. OG covid or Alpha wave?

This better not interfere with his comeback for the Rocket.

Chychrun for 1st + Amirov + Dermott/Holl (I assume they take Dermott) + Ritchie.

Chychrun-Mo
Muzzin-Brodie
Sandin/Lilly/Dermott or Holl

That seems like a lot though. Only worth it if Chychrun is actually a lot coming back.

Sure, 1st is late, but we do great things with late picks, and Amirov is sort of a depressed asset, but looks pretty awesome when we see him, and then they're getting a pretty decent dman in Dermy. I mean, I'd do it because I think the team looks pretty sweet and then we have much more flex to move Muzzin in the offseason. But it'd be nice to not include Amirov and instead add some lesser guy (or guys, the power of quantity).

Ottawa put four players, including Chabot on the COVID list today, and their next game (Jan 6 vs Seattle) has been postponed.

Sandin, Liljegren, Robertson, Amirov, Niemela, Knies, #1 '22, #1 '23

You figure it's gotta be 2-3 of these assets and it's all about us giving up the right ones.

All about trying to avoid giving up the real prizes (imo sandin/Lilly you really want to avoid giving up the most).

Dermott/holl/Ritchie/etc are lesser assets to finesse the deal.

I feel like Hirvonen and Amirov are the two guys toughest to project at the moment.

If it came down to the two of them, I'm not sure who would be the better one to sacrifice, but I lean Hirvonen even though I like him.

Kypreos was going off today saying the the leafs would need to give Sandin, a first a second and top prospect. for Chychrun WTF???

As per my post up there that would be the high end package and I highly doubt we're the ones to pony up that much.

But yeah 2-3 good young assets would probably be the price or else why would Zona do it?

But then again this all depends on whether the scouts actually think chychrun is legit good already with the upside for more.
