Tried to do the same thing with Hartman, and let's not forget how broken Bolland was by the time he got here. Chicago always produces random middle 6 forwards that gets jerked off and over rated. Versteeg, Bolland, Hartman, Shaw, Saad...and they trade them all for significant returns.

It's only when they actually have a good young player (Panarin, Teravainen) that they give up on them for cheap.
 
I don't think I have enough patience to wait for the deadline this year.

There's a lot of chatter and nonsense that I'm tired of hearing.
 
Trades are too difficult in the NHL, makes it boring. They need to tweak the cap rules somehow to allow for more movement.

For me it's mostly because the leafs don't need anything. It's more exciting when they have a glaring hole and you can fantasize about that hole being filled.

But I'm still enjoying it because I like that they're hole-less.

Any player on an expiring contract who is traded within 7 days of the deadline is $0 on the cap. Stops all the LTIR shenanigans and allows teams to really load up.
 
The one thing I find interesting is the fact that he plays with Toews and Kane mostly. Similar...not the same as a tavares, Willy combo.
 
Another different look tonight. They're really trying to find out how badly they want to acquire another d I think. Feels like they're not 100% convinced that Holl is the guy as the 4. Based on what dubas said a couple weeks ago they really want to give Ras and Tim a chance to show what they've got there.
