What happened to a lie? Nothing. It was never real. “The Dubas Family”. Hilarious how transparent this all was. Shanny soured on him as a person, not as a GM.
 
That he has an agent is the tip-off here.. agent's are well known to find opportunities. It's not collusion if the agent is the one asking questions.

The bullying (while terrible, obviously) is interesting. Maybe I'm connecting the wrong dots here, but the insinuation seems to be that his kids were bullied because their dad was the GM of the Maple Leafs? How old are his kids, they can't even be in what, grade 4 or 5?

Also…how fucking sweet would it be if he doesn’t get the Pitt’s job, or any job this year? He will have so much extra time to work on The Dubas Family.

I just can't see him using his family as a weapon. That is a hurdle for me.

But he did make some good trades before the deadline and some horrible ones at it so maybe he is broken.

So, question... has Dubas been formally fired or his contract just wont be renewed?

ie, can he start working for someone before June 30th? Can he spill the Leafs draft plans?

Nah. I don’t believe for a second that he was entertaining the notion of leaving for a second, and I don’t believe he had any talks or offers from anyone. There is no chance he wanted to leave this job and uproot, to go to Pittsburgh of all places.

I think officially he’s not being brought back. Why terminate a guy when you can lessen your legal exposure by letting a contract run out. Plus, as Habsy mentioned, we could still conceivably get a pick from a team if they’re desperate enough to want to hire him before June 30. Though I feel Shanny will probably just be nice and let him out early for free.

In your profession have you ever seen anyone adamant about one thing only to have an enticing offer thrown at them which makes them change their mind?

Then they scramble to get it done and leave a mess literally everywhere?

That's what I think happened.

Not where it’s tampering if it gets found out. This is very different than the normal situation.

I also don’t think the facts match up. He wants to leave Toronto to move The Dubas Family to Pittsburgh? He wants to take on Pittsburgh’s aging roster without the ability to trade the top guys (we know he loves interference from above)? Is he going to get anywhere near the dollars Toronto was going to pay him? This is a horrible, horrible result for him, which he definitely didn’t deliberately engineer to unfold.
