The Mother-fucking goddamn Off-season Thread

Only other explanation I can think of if the Hart rumours are true is that it could also be that the Flyers are going all-in on tanking. So they want an all-shitty goalie tandem like Chicago with Mrazek & Stalock.

Otherwise, yeah, I don’t get why there’s be any urgency to deal him on Philly’s part.
yeah, it's this, plus the fact that Ersson looked great last year.

Carter Hart is just 24, though. So there are zero reasons to trade him unless the return is worth it.

Exactly this. They love Ersson and think he can be the guy, and have minor doubts on Hart’s mental toughness.
They will just keep him if the return isn’t good enough, though

slow news day, I guess

Team will not trade player X unless return is good!
Your 5 day forecast is coming up next.
Well, it's a reasonable question considering goalies don't typically garner much in trades.

I find it interesting that Canadian teams are interested and his mental makeup is in question a bit. Doesn't seem like the best fit. But I'm all for shipping him off and embracing the rebuild.

Tbh I say we let Cal Peterson get killed night in and night out next year and let Ersson be backup to get NHL experience but avoid ruining him.

not sure what the hell that means, but Tre made it pretty clear in the press conference that this team is not about 4 guys. Not sure how they keep the 4 guys and actually change it though.

What a useless commentary. You need 19 other guys to play, and maybe get a little love, and then maybe they'll be good?

Fuck off, Elliotte. Go find something to actually report.

My exact take on Dubas' failure.

Yup, even just a fifth guy would've made a big difference. Been wishing for that for a while.

But Dubie had sufficient complementary pieces and pissed them away, so it was just bad selection when it came to the depth.

honestly hate that they call it a "core 4" in terms of team strategy going forward.

The 33yr old Tavares is not part of some core that you don't want to move. He's not at all similar to the other 3 in this regard.

No but he's just as expensive, and unmovable (just for different reasons).

non-story

i don't think Dubas was "core 4 this", "core 4 that"....the guy spent most of the past two years trying to build lines 3/4 with best bang for the buck players that Keefe also liked.....they mostly failed

if you're taking him off the table because he's "untradeable" (which i'd heavily dispute anyways), then he shouldn't be being called part of any "core".

untradeable players aren't core players.

Your complaint was lodged and they decided immediately to change the nickname.

They are now the Awesome Foursome.

So basically everything I've been yelling about for 3 years now. Our depth forwards suck, have sucked and rarely do anything ever. Fuck low event hockey.

Honestly, I don't see the issue in building a functionally good bottom 6 out of the cap space available, with what's already in the system. Anchor the bottom 6th around a good 3C, play the kids, and then make your deadline ads when cap space matters a lot less and retention fuckery is much cheaper to get. It was the basis for wanting rid of Kerfoot...if you're not a good 3C, what the fuck are you doing that is worth 3.5 million inside this team's cap structure? It all starts with a #3C that can carry water for a line in tough usage.

untradeable players aren't core players.

Untreatable because of the NMC.

I mean there is no question JT is a core player here. He is at worst our 4th or 5th best player, and the captain. But I agree that he's not necessarily the same as the other 3.
