The Mother-fucking goddamn Off-season Thread

Maybe I'm wrong here, but I feel like that pick could've provided a player of similar upside in a trade. They left some serious talent/upside on the board - and ANA/CLB/CHI/SJS are going to find some gems at the top of the 2nd round.

So Pridham negotiated Kampfs contract, Clark goes off the board to pick a grinder in the 1st round over a guy with the 2nd best WHL career behind Bedard.

im over the Dubas era. Get rid of his front office people. Can they please start the mass exodus already?

Not that we need much more time but in a couple days we'll see the outcome of the UFA period. Then we can really judge Tre and the existing crew.

I'm not optimistic at all based on the last day or so, but lets see what happens.

By all accounts it seems there was some thought he could have been taken in the early 2nd round as he was a very late riser and most of these lists did not account for that.

So it's possible that after that moldy dick guy got picked, they really wanted this player and maybe the leafs were offered some packages to trade down but felt that this dude maybe wouldn't have been available in the slots that they were offered.

There is something to he said about a guy that seemed to have improved significantly as the year went on. Remember he barely got any pp time or points last year so pp time next year alone should prop him up to a baseline of a ppg player. Hopefully even better tho.

Where do you find primary point stats?

He a big playoff performer, energy guy. He was going relatively early. Bobby Mac had him in the 50s. It’s not al Twitter nerdboys in the NHL.

and the eye test shows some decent skill. Like Knies and Minten not high end upside, but not low either.

Only Craig Button had him at 34. The rest were late second or third round. I think it's a reach.

Of course it's a reach. The Leafs knew this too. As soon as their guy got selected by Nashville, they tried relentlessly to trade down. I'm sure they were offered packages but probably didn't want to take the risk that this dude wasn't going to be available in the picks they were offered. They liked the player a lot and decided to pick him. We shall see if this galaxy brain thinking works out. I tend to laugh at all these people making definitive statements about how good a 28th overall pick player will be. Fans opinions and even scouting lists tend to have poor predictability after pick ~15 or so.
