The Mother-fucking goddamn Off-season Thread

McDavid has the same amount of personality as Tavares.... it's how we build our exceptional teens to deal with stardom.

That's one thing the 'Muricans do way, way better than us.

We teach our kids to speak in monosyllabic grunts, show zero personality, and hide from attention at all costs.

American kids are trying to start companion rap and/or social media careers, and make every attempt to move wherever there is the most media attention.

Even most of the US kids that play the game have zero personality

That's what I said above. That if he was used as 3C, which I thought was the plan when we got him, then great, welcome aboard; and going forward, stay aboard for the right price and term. But they used him as a 2C and the guy could barely make a decent pass, and had next to no scoring touch. He's basically a grunt now, with some lucky stats, and it was on display for anyone who wanted to look past the numbers to see the player fumble all over the ice. To compare him to Tavares is really insulting the captain.

he was on the ice for far many more goals for and far fewer goals against than tavares, with the same impact on the underlying numbers, even while playing against tougher competition with much tougher defensive deployment and with lesser linemates.

playing him more than tavares was obviously the right decision, and they probably should have played him even more.

Dunno if that's true. Patrick Kane punches cabbies and has a sense of humour, Auston is out here showing his ass to security guards and leading the NHL's fashion revolution. Phil Kessel is a god amongst men, etc, etc.

still on the lame side compared to their non hockey contemporaries ...but yeah, more interesting than those "good Canadian Boys"

ROR is a skillless poop and a half. You can love him from afar and see him barely get by in Nashville. Then you’ll be thrilled you have Tavares and not him.

You'd think cups and conn smythes would take care of the non-numbers part.
Ancient history. Who cares what he was? Our sole concern is what he is and what he will be. You think I didn’t want to like him? I saw with my own eyes that he was garbage.

This might be richer than the richest hollandaise coming from the man who is unable to view Tavares with any degree of objectivity whatsoever

Yeah, I saw it all play out. Since you didn’t, I can report that he was completely inept, tripping over his dick, and picking up some of the luckiest and lamest points I’ve seen. Literally getting an assist because he was on his ass and a Tavares shot rebounded out and touched him before Tavares buried it. Having a Knies shot sit on the goal line with no one around him. Other than his first game, he was pathetic, and the luck he had doesn’t hold up over a larger sample, so be thrilled you don’t have to see him be useless here for four more years.
