The Mother-fucking goddamn Off-season Thread

I don’t think this is true. It’s taxed as income regardless of being a lump sum or spread out.
Nah, a signing bonuses given to an American July 1st is definitely taxed much different. Aside from that $ now is better than money later as they say because you can invest and grow it.

Hmm OK.

If so, it would be nice if this type of benefit ever played into the calculation and got players to sign here for less.

The one good thing Dubas did last year was not trade Knies. Looking back on all his idiot decisions last season, I’m really surprised he kept him.

I saw some takes about Meier on the webs and it's funny how things go.

Looks like we lost Presto to Team #DoYourOwnResearch.

It's a goddamn war out here. (insert 100,000 word essay that war is bad here)

Posts about colloidal silver coming next.
I'm on Team #IDontGiveAFuckWhatHockeyPlayersBelieve and Team #JustBeGoodAtHockey mostly. Though I guess there's a limit to that but my limit is not one who thinks vaccines give you 3 dicks and turbo cancer. They're hockey players folks; I don't expect them to be smart.

Bertuzzi is an exciting player coming off a strong postseason showing, but Meier is pretty fucking good.

He had a poor playoffs this time out, but 15 points in 20 games in his last try.

I'm very happy if Bertuzzi signs some 4-5 year extension though.

Dude's going to score soooo many dirty goals - he'll be drafting up his own extension by December.

Would be awesome to lock up a player like this before he gets a chance to test the market.

But sadly the only reason he signed for one year is because he wants to get that mega deal, and if he's blowing off the doors playing with the core 4, do we shell it out and make him happy?

No, we use him as a proof of concept for every other guy who wants to pump their value on 1 year deals. Focus on that and drafting/developing our own top 6 talents to surround the big 3 with.
