The Mother-fucking goddamn Off-season Thread

ok time to let twitter do my thinking for me

I think the transparency was really refreshing…..do think there is a balance to it tho, and Shanny did it in a way that shirked all responsibility for the decision and buried Dubas.

think there was a manner of sharing lots, being transparent, and not burying Kyle. dunno.

Dude inherited or lucked into every major impact player the team has and failed to put a good enough supporting team around them. Also couldn't reel in his young new age wonder coach when he started going full Don Cherry.

Then he told the whole world he wasn't sure he wanted the job anymore.

It's been a slice, but time to move on.
Yep. Was gifted 2 elite players and had no playoff success.

I do think I viewed that presser as sorta lukewarm on returning so not surprised it gave the President pause, then to come back with increased demands. Yeah, honestly, I kinda get it.

Fucking terrified at the path going forward though.

It was entertaining

Shanny cleared the air — didn’t have to, of course, but I think it benefits the fans more than hundreds of speculative think pieces about “what happened”
media

Dubas is gonna bury the leafs for a generation now.

Yeah, I'm struggling with the logic from anyone questioning this:

Shanny: Hey, here's a contract, we want you back...all good?
Dubas: Yeah, looks all good...need some time to think about it though, talk to the wife, you know. Was a tough year on her.
Shanny: M'kay
Kyle (on tv): I'm not sure if I have it in me to continue doing the job, it's killing my family life
Shanny:....wtf?
Kyle:..............
Kyle:...........mo money
Shanny: nah, peace homes.

In the end I think the right decision was made. That dubas presser shook me, and i was already fine with him not coming back before that.

I'm somewhat concerned with shanny's behavior here (that he was so comfortable extending Dubas after the deadline, that his opinion could change so drastically, and that he went public with everything here - all are maybe a big concerning0, but in terms of what that means for the team going forward.....I come out of this presser more reassured that Shanny appreciates the type of management that Dubas brought to the table, and will probably try to get someone more like that than go for some big philosophical change. I don't think this presser should make us worry that Shanny will start making emotional decisions going forward or even start interfering any more than he ever has.

I don't see the worry that Shanny made an emotional decision.

This is not Austin Matthews we are talking about. Dubas can be replaced.

The guy went in TV and told everyone his mind was elsewhere. You can't commit millions of dollars to a guy who isn't in it to win it. Dubas pressor was one to take seriously as an executive. You can't risk hiring a guy who may not want to do the job.
